Memory Long
I.
The tired, long sky stretches out over winter.
Trees wave listlessly in a breeze.
Do you hear the battle chant, youngling?
They're here to save you,
To take you from this horrible place
Where rope binds and steel too.
Do you hear the warriors cry, youngling?
They're coming across the plains anew,
To sever the ropes of pain with a swipe
A sword that cleaves metal in two.
Do you hear the clashing of steel, youngling?
Not the kind that causes pain,
The steel is unyielding
And wielded in minotaur's name.
A-ya, a-ya,a-ya`a-ray,
A-ya, a-ya, a-ya`a-ray.
II.
Sky like night unfolding,
Wrapped in a mother's caress.
Ho!
Wake through the darkness,
Ho!
Let the night end now!
Walk through the shadows,
Let your rage carry you high!
Ho!
For a moment,
Standing there,
At the doorway,
Ho!
Let the fire within you
Crash and burn till ALL is night!
Tearing, rending, losing, bleeding,
The day winds on into brittle, snow-covered night,
The stars above betraying what's right.
The light fading,
The dawn gleaming,
Ahead on the distant horizon.
III.
Mountains like jagged cliffs piercing,
Thrusting into the sky like horns.
A calm breeze.
Mra, do I have a soul?
A-ya, a-ya, a-ya`aray,
A-ya, a-ya, a-ya`aray.
You told me not to worry, mra,
You told me not to care.
You told me everything would be all right
Even when you were not there.
You're lying on the snow somewhere,
Blood soaking in the ground.
The stars above don't listen,
Your body will never be found.
Why don't they care, mra?
Why don't they SEE?
I'm a monster, now.
My hands are striped with blood.
My eyes are dim.
I don't want them to see me.
Never again.
