This is the other end of the gnoll intelligence sprectrum, across the way from Surrkaton. To be fair, Guruk was a normal, thieving, elf-hating, not-that-bright-but-smart-enough-to-be-a-problem gnoll male. He'd kill any elf that he could, with absolute glee, and unlike Surrkaton, he was just as likely to kill his robbed victims instead of just roughing them up. Unfortunately, he happened to try and rob a dragon's friend one day. He'd -thought- the dragon was gone, or at least far enough away and leaving that he didn't need to worry about it. Oops. The end result was the gnoll being thrown quite hard through a tavern window, plowing through furniture, and splatting against a wall. And I do mean splatting. Guruk was dying when a small elven child went up and decided to help him, healing him. Unfortunately, by that time, he'd already become... simple. Brain damage had occurred. Now, he happily follows that elf-child around, drools copiously through mostly broken teeth, and acts like a big puppy. His former self would be horrified.
