Spring has sprung; let's step to it

STEP TWO

As I have said, there are three simple steps that ought to form the basis of any worthwhile fitness program regardless of its level of intensity, your level of athletism, or the level of distractions in your life.

Step One is breathing. It is essential to life. It gets oxygen flowing through your body. Done well, it improves the way you feel. It is nature's way of keeping you ALIVE! Stay Alive! Breathe.

Have you seen the statistics on injuries lately? Have you heard the groaning around you? Oh my, my, my! So many people mean so well with their various fitness programs. How many of them stretch? Adequately?

Yes, stretching is step number two. It will absolutely amaze you what stretching does for your body and you; stretching the right way, that is. It's so simple ... and you guessed it ... it will astound you how many just don't know how to stretch correctly. They end up on the hospital bed or under the surgeon's keen eyes. The surgeon keeps his construction tools very handy and his family very happy. Keep your money in your pocket.

Stretching will pep you up. It will improve your elasticity. It will strengthen your muscles. It will relax you. Ever seen a baby waking up. Baby stretches. It is the natural way of maintaining a quality level of fitness. Oh, but all that tension... yes tension, tension, tension ... all those fears and frustrations in life, all those bills and telemarketers, uh! Soon you're tighter than a scout knot. You're so full of knots, you're a veritable rope ladder, and they're climbing all over you. Well, it doesn't have to be so.

Believe it or not, there is a stretch for every known physical activity and inactivity known to human. You don't have to be in the gym in order to stretch. If you happen to be in a gym you'd better stretch as well or so much of your sweat and labor goes to waste. Tsk, tsk, tsk. You know what I'm talking about, don't you?

Okay, let's get to the program. Take a deep breath. Exhale. Good!
