Emperor Thrommel Breckonridge resigned from his post as Emperor after the loss of one of his dearest sons. He hoped one day to see his son, Count Draigen Breckonridge, sitting upon the throne of the Empire of the Imperial Magistracy, but it was not to be. His sons, Prince York and Viscount Jarlaxle were off to study humanities in the universities, so it was not to be that either of them could rule the Empire. Furthermore, King Alexander Breckonridge, Thommel's younger brother, did not care for political matters after he had witnessed Thrommel almost dethroned on more than one occasion by his own children. Finally, Thrommel's youngest sister, Isabella,
went hand in hand with a commoner Freeman Jean Luc Valois and was not seen again. Thrommel shut himself up in his castle as the Empire was run by the Triumvirate controlled by Archqueen Adana Breckonridge-Chamberlain, Count Lhaeros Gefahrlich, and Esquire Lathen Noraddo. He worried not about the Empire as he knew his sister was capable and would help in the direction of the Empire.

As the old Archking sealed himself off from the rest of the Imperial Citizens, Prince John Breckonridge II and his wife Troyana Beck came forth to the Archqueen and Triumvir of the Empire of the Imperial Magistracy. They were accompanied by their child Avengelyne Breckonridge and the child of John's dead sister, Brenden Campbell. Brenden's parents named him such for his temper as his name means "fiery hill" and as a baby he had a fiery temper indeed. Brenden's parents, Robert and Eva Breckonridge-Campbell had died after being consumed in a mysterious fire at their manor. Brenden managed to escape the tragedy and went to live with his aunt and uncle, John and Troyana. John came forth with his wife, daughter, and adopted son to ask if they might be able to live in the lands of the Empire of the Imperial Magistracy once again, particularly the Archkingdom of Eden. The Archqueen was happy to allow them to come into the Empire once more, especially now that she was ill and needed help about the castle. She was receiving much support from her young companion, Esquire Lathen
Noraddo, but her family being present helped all the more.  John Breckonridge I + Bethany Lyon

As days went by, she decided that it was necessary to make sure that transition in the Archkingdom went smoothly, so she chose her nephew, Prince John Breckonridge II as the new heir to the throne. Since her son, Prince Christopher Chamberlain had taken to a life of the clergy and already ran his own region, it was obvious that a new heir was needed. Furthermore, as she advanced in age, her health began to fail her.

So, during the darker moments of Adana's life, her family aided her and comforted her. Avengelyne and Lathen became acquainted and began to desire each other. Avengelyne became a Lady in Waiting to the Archqueen and attended to her daily needs. Brenden helped with tasks about the house and in the stables and also became acquainted with Lathen.

Adana then became violently ill after hearing about revolting activities in the north. Physicians of the Archkingdom of Eden attended to her. Being elderly, her body could not stand much of the strain. The revolts and backstabbing disgusted Lathen very much, because it was directed mostly against the Archqueen of the Archkingdom of Eden. Lathen lamented to Avengelyne night after night over the illness of the Archqueen and the revolts of the north. Count Lhaeros Gefahrlich of the Triumvirate tried to stave off the problems in the north, but it was difficult. The Count also cared deeply about his other Triumvirs and did not care for the suffering of the Archqueen.

Then in the middle of the night, a great fire broke out in the castle of the Archqueen. Avengelyne jumped into the moat of the castle and reached safety. Lathen ran into the Archqueen's room and carried her body to the lower reaches of the castle. When he reached safety, the Archqueen had taken in too much of the fumes and was dead. In the middle of the night as the fire raged on, one of the greater castle walls collapsed. There was no sign of Avengelyne's parents or her cousin, Brenden.

The next day, Lathen realized the importance of keeping the Archkingdom alive. He knew that the Imperial Senators would try to take over the region, if they found out about the death of the Archqueen. He pulled forth the papers which made Avengelyne's parents the legal heirs to the throne of the region. It was a lucky thing that such documents were stored in the regional senatorial halls. It had a clause that in the event of their death, it would be passed on to their children, as they would be Breckonridge family members. Lathen explained to Avengelyne that
she would now be the ruler and Queen of Eden. It was a happy moment, but also one of sadness and anger. It was feared that this was a plot that had come to fruition and finally killed off the Archqueen to the happiness of the northern Imperial Senators. Therefore, as her first decree, Avengelyne called for the secession of the Archkingdom of Eden from the Empire of the Imperial Magistracy. Lathen had to agree with her move, as he believed much evil befell the Archqueen and he would hate to see the same happen to his love.

Lathen explained that the Archqueen Adana Beckonridge-Chamberlain did have an ally of power in the personage of her brother, Archking Thrommel Breckonridge, Avengelyne's great uncle. Avengelyne made contact with the cloistered Archking and told of his sister's passing. It hurt him so to hear of her passing and also the loss of the Archkingdom of Eden from the Empire. He did state he would help Eden in any way he could as he continued to struggle ruling a large region in the northern territories of the Empire of the Imperial Magistracy in the face of
losing his sister.

Queen Avengelyne Breckonridge demanded from the Empire of the Imprial Magistracy to return the Imperial Gold Crowns which were earned by Archqueen Adana Breckonridge-Chamberlain and rightfully the property of the Kingdom of Eden. Emperor Belgarion-Rheydt-Hoster denied these claims and the Queen went into a fit of rage.  Archking Thrommel Breckonridge knew the law stated that she should not receive the money of her great aunt, but he also felt it necessary to let the Kingdom of Eden have the funds. Therefore, he took it upon himself to send such funds to the Kingdom of Eden from his personal coffers. He hoped to keep peaceful relations between the Kingdom of Eden and the Empire of the Imperial Magistracy.
