Genre: Horror
Yes, well 'Horror', for want of a better term. 'Really Bad Horror', perhaps? Anyway, Myopia does hold a special spot in my heart, since it was, the way I regard it, the first story I ever wrote. True, I was about 15 at the time, but I think, to my shame, that it counts.
Whilst it certainly makes more sense than But Is It Art?, Myopia has a totally flawed premise. In case anyone at home hadn't noticed, skin simply isn't transluscent. When I was 15 I would reply to this allegation with a simple, "Ah, but it is!" However, these days my rebuttal is countered with an even more simple, "No, not 'Ah'. Skin isn't transluscent." Which, of course, it isn't. Oh well, never let the facts get in the way of a good story, that's what I say. My critics will probably now have to point out that Myopia isn't a good story. Hmm, right again...
Anyway, a few last points. Two main criticisms are levelled at the story. First, some say that, in the introduction, I am far too arrogant ('you really have no imagination'). They are right. I am. It's the way I was built. Secondly, some have said that the final line is far too corny. I disagree, but you must make up your own mind, I guess.
