Nails tore through His hands, pierced His feet
His beautiful brow tainted and stained by blood
as He walked hatred was all that He could meet
They had adored Him, and now spat upon Him, pushed Him to His feet
A wonderful man with no crime at all
He was killed so no more earth-angels would fall
He gave us His life, and paradise
and will protect us when Earth ends in fire and ice.
They took from Him, the only garments He had to wear
gambled for them, laughed, jeered and stared
When darkness overtook them, they began to care
and realize that the man they took from this Earth
Gave us all a chance for rebirth
His only crime was love and tremendous care
Any burden that we have, He helps to bear
And in those low times, when we feel all alone
He will come to guide us and lead us home
All the pain and anguish-none of us could take
was given to the man we hurt and whipped and staked
but He wanted no revenge, He loved us anyway
and because of His great sacfice our pain is minimized each day
We can take any load, accomplish any feet
And at the end of the day, we may go home and have Jesus there to greet.
