The muse is kicking me hard and I am at work on a long story. Finally my brain rebelled and came up with this. No redeeming value except that I saw Worst Case Scenario last night and this was the result.

Warning: Too silly to even need one. Zero spoilers. Not betaed. This is brain to computer writing.

Disclaimer: You think Paramount would consider this worthy of a lawsuit? Hah!! Never!!

Pairings: Oh, take a guess, let it be a surprise

Encounter

by Maigret

Tom was still smiling as he exited the holodeck.

"I know what you are doing...don't think you are going to get away with it."

Tom spun on his heels. "Harry?"

"Don't you think I know how much time you are spending with HIM."

Tom smiled, a small secret smile. "So what, he's not protesting. In fact he's the one who requested that we spend today together." Tom’s emphasis on the pronoun was slightly less emphatic.

Suddenly, the near cherubic face of Harry Kim fell. "HE asked?"

Harry wondered why his god was shortchanging him. They had been so close, heads together as they shared their mutual interests. Taking a deep breath, Ensign Kim, swallowed around the lump that had materialized in his throat. "I guess if HE wants it that way, then that's that. You are the better man, Tom."

And so would have ended another heartbreak on Voyager had the object of the two men's affections not exited the holodeck, in time to hear the last words uttered by Harry Kim.

Elegant eyebrows arched. Rapidly taking in the tension in the two figures before him, Tuvok spoke, "Is there a problem, gentlemen?"

Fatuous smiles graced both ensigns' lips. "No problem. Tuvok. Harry was just leaving."

Harry Kim stood his ground. "I thought we could share a game of Kaltoh, Tuvok."

Stepping closer to Tuvok, Tom stated, "He's just spent the day working on holodeck programming with me. He's tired, Harry, can't you see that?"

But Ensign Harry Kim who had died, been sucked into an alternate universe, been up close and personal with Species 8472, was not planning on taking the hint that Tom was slamming against his face. "Just one game, Tuvok, I think you'll be surprised," he wheedled.

Tom advanced one step threateningly toward the shorter man.

"Ensigns, as a member of a non-violent species, I believe I can satisfy both of you without generating any violence."

It was probably the word "satisfy" that stopped both ensigns from speaking.

Tom Paris was the one who conquered his paralysis first, "Satisfy?" The word was a near squeak.

"I have noticed a certain possessiveness in your behaviours, Ensign Paris and Ensign Kim. Whereas I am not averse to playing Kaltoh or creating new holoprograms, I would prefer that my time be spent more constructively. So, gentlemen, my cabin or yours?"

THE END!!
