The battle of Britain was a hard fought victory. Even though Order was outnumbered they fought with bravery and honor. The fire that dwelt in every heart that day was fueled by the call of Vengeance. On that day the great general of the Dark Legion fell to Valen's bloody sword. Valen stood over the fallen foe and his heart knew that now his love would finally rest in peace.
Although it was an Order victory the losses were staggering. Three fourths of the men and woman that fought that day lost there lives. There bodies were set a flame on a mass pyre. Each person there silently vowed to never forget the battle or those comrades that did not leave alive. Valen himself wept at the funeral for each knight he had lost. After the funeral Valen stood and addressed his knighthood. "Do not let grief take thine eyes or blind thyself with tears. For if you yield to sadness for too long you shall be blind to the living. But never forget this day my brothers and sisters. Let it fuel you every time you enter the fray. We must not let those fallen die in Vain."
As
the knighthood finally reached the great gates of Trinsic, Lord Dector
looked to his friend and leader. Dector's eyes darkened at what he
saw, for Valen seemed haggard as if the very will to live had left him.
That
night Dector went to Valen's living quarters but found Valen no where to
be found. On his desk laid a piece of parchment. Before Dector's
eyes words seemed to appear on the parchment, revealing to him this prophecy.
"On
this day beyond Beggar's Gorge, past the flaming mountains, and across
the Shallow Sea. Into the mountains near Terra Sanctum the Lord of
Oblivion shall go. But when the world is again gripped in the fist
of Darkness he shall return."
Dector stared in disbelief at what he had just read. He laid the parchment down then walked the corridors of Trinsic until the fiery giant again appeared on the horizon. Later that day he addressed the knighthood of what had transpired the night earlier. He told the knighthood that every year each knight must make the pilgrimage to the Shrine of Honor to pay homage to not only the memory of Valen but also each knight that fell at the hands of Evil. Every person present vowed to do so. He also instructed them to spread across Britannia and find the peace that each deserved but, be ready for Valen's Call for one day Dector had no doubt Valen would again return.
After Dector left the wall of the city he prepared for his own journey. For where Valen traveled he would not travel alone.
