Welcome to My Electronic Dance Music Page!
We all know the U.S. is rock n' roll country. Many critics said alternative music was gonna take Rock n' Roll to the next level and be the "next big thing." The music genre that is gonna be the "next big thing" for the next generation youth, 21st Century freaks, is ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC!
Here, you'll find fresh techno headlines, a brief electronic history, my CD collection, and I'll be gathering all the information (or at least give you links or sources where you can obtain information) about electronic/dance music from its beginning to present and where it's headed into the phuture.

What's New

Let me mention that I missed the mid-late 80's, the so called "Great 80's," however, I still recall early DANCE music of that decade. Personally, it all started in 1995 watching movies like "Hackers" and "Mortal Kombat" and listening to their soundtracks.  It was The Beginning for me.  Since then it's been historic.

Note that from all the electronic dance music I've been listening through out the years, the groove that has caught my attention the most and that has bits and pieces of all types of beats, rythyms and sounds of electronic music is called PROGRESSIVE HOUSE !

In the beginning
there was house music
and house music had its own groove
and from this groove
came the groove of all grooves
and one day
when DJs declared
let this house be PROGRESSIVE
and progressive house is the bomb!

MY PERSPECTIVE

Electronica dance music fits right into today's society: wanna know all the truth/ new age/ no government trust/ personal destruction/ no stars no heroes/ information technology era/ internet/ post-cold war/ in search of spirituality/ global capitalism/ late 90's mentality and new attitude/ computer dependent/ good economic status/ paraculture and so on.

2003 has brought nothing unique to the music in general and everything has gone mainstream and what matters is the bottom line. There's no original rock music, techno and hip pop, and we're kind of stuck in mud. The only thing happening right now is music online downloaders are being sued by the RIAA. Hey RIAA, Make a deal or compromise, PRONTO!
In an ideal music world FREE THE DAMN MUSIC.
Universal Records has cut CD prices to $13.99 but I would have loved, liked CDs at $9.99 . At least "they" have given some. Apple's iTunes Music Store has been a hit so far and can you belive this: a song for 99 cents! OK, artists have to make profit.

NEWS BRIEFS

February 06
The Chemical Brothers won 2 Grammy Awards for "Best Dance Recording- Galvanize" and "Best Electronic/Dance Album- Push The Button."

HISTORY

The past: .....since the Homo-sapiens clapped two stones and created the first sound.  This music genre began in the post-disco /early-mid 80's era; It was the genesis of the DJ culture in three different states of the united states, and in each state DJ's created their own grooves: house music in Chicago, techno music in Detroit, and garage music in new York.  Then, this music was played in Europe clubs and took over in the late 80's in the U.K and early-mid 90's in the U.S.

European DJ's experimented, improvised, and transformed techno, house, and garage into a new level of music, into what it's known today; It is recycled music by mixing a few sample tracks, and then becoming a composition.  DJ's use samplers, synths, others as their instruments.  It got popular when it was used/still is as a background music in TV ads (i.e. automobiles, cologne, clothing commercials) and in film cinema. most of the hits today come from the U.K, Australia, and Germany.  When one speaks of electronica dance music, it's not a single groove, but a variety of grooves or rhythms, such as drum n' bass, ambient, rock n' beat, trance, goa, industrial, hi-energy, acid, progressive, dream, house, techno, garage, rave, electro-pop, or a combination of them.  Check Eurodance Hits Dictionary ( www.eurodancehits.com ) for a complete electronic dance music guide.   If you really want an excellent history lesson of electronica music, purchase/watch/listen the "Modulations Movie" and the "Modulations Soundtrack."
