The man fell out of the swirling blue vortex with a soft thud. He stood up, and watched the vortex close behind him. He opened his timer and read the display. "two days, and counting down" he said quietly to himself. He decided to stay low for a while. Then, the day of his slide, he would make his move.
Quinn Mallory, Rembrant Brown, Wade Wells, and Professor Maximillion Arturo sat in their room at The Dominion Hotel. It had been a great stay in Paradise World. Everything was free. They had three more days left.
They had just finished their meal. Chinese takeout. It was deliciouse. Wade walked over to the open window, the breeze gently blowing her hair around.
"I think I'm going to take a walk, wish to join me Quinn?" Wade asked. Ever since Quinn's madman double kidnapped her, she always took Quinn out with her.
Quinn smiled, "Sure me lady."
Wade laughed, and they left the room hand in hand.
The man stood in the shadows behind the Dominion Hotel. He watched the happy couple walking towards the park. "Bingo. This is the right world after all." he thought. He was very pleased. His hard work tracking their wormholes had paid off.
He promised the girl he would see her again, It was a promise he didn't intend to break.
He headed a few blocks away to reserve a room at Motel 6.
Wade and Quinn contiuned their walk into the park. It was a nice warm day. They saw swings off in the distance.
Wade smiled up at Quinn, "Race ya!" She yelled running off towards the swings.
Quinn laughed. "Hey no fair! You got a head start!" He ran after her, catching up, grabbing her up in his arms and swinging her around. He smiled to himself. Life was great.
Back at the hotel room, Rembrant and Arturo watched the television. Rembrant looked over at The Professor, "Up for a bar trip?"
Arturo nodded, "Sure Mr. Brown." They grabbed their coats, and headed to The Lamplighter a few streets away from The Dominion.
The man looked at his reflection in his hotel room mirror. He stared into his own blue eyes. It was the madman Quinn Mallory who had failed at kidnapping Wade Wells when she slid into his world. Ever since the loss of his own beloved Wade, Quinn had gone insane. After his kidnapped attempt failed, he got worse. He now was known as just "Q".
A few days after Wade and her group slid out of his world, another one of his doubles, Logan St. Clair slid in. She taught him how to track wormholes. She liked him, he was evil just like her. She knew he would help her destroy Quinn. He would take Wade from him, and slide. That was his plan. He would slide with her a few random places, incase Quinn could track him. Then finnaly, after losing them on a rollercoaster ride, he would slide back home and make Wade his wife.
Wade and Quinn sat on the swings. They watched the children playing around them, parents in a big group talking. Wade smiled to Quinn, he smiled back. Then she started to swing.. higher.. and higher. Quinn watched her soar through the sky. Then he joined her.
A little while later it started to get dark and a bit chilly, "Hey Wade, wanna go to The Lamplighter?" Quinn asked.
Wade slowed down on the swing, "Sure, Let's go!" They left the park and walked a few blocks away to the Lamplighter bar.
They saw The Professor and Rembrant sitting at a table. Wade walked over, "Hey guys!" she greeted them, pulling up a chair.
Rembrant smiled, "Hey sweetheart! Funny meeting up with you guys here." He laughed.
Arutro nodded, "Hello Miss Wells, Mr. Mallory."
Quinn pulled up a chair right beside Wade. They ordered a round of drinks. Talked and laughed a bit, Quinn noticed the karioki machine in the corner.
He took Wade's hand and led her over to the table besided the machine. He smiled. "This may be a little hard on the ears."
She smiled and laughed back.
Quinn chose a song from the selections, It was one they had heard a few worlds ago, Wade really liked it.
The song started. Wade recongnized the tune right away. She smiled at Quinn. Rembrant also recongnized the tune. He headed up to the kariokie stage to be Quinn's backup singer.
He made it just before the words started. Quinn & Rembrant: It's All, It's all. Tears started to form in Wade's eyes. She smiled at Quinn.

Wade stood up and clapped with tears in her eyes. Rembrant and Quinn both smiled. Rembrant went back over to the table The Professor was sitting at. They watched the happy couple embrace.
A little while later the sliders headed back to the hotel, the last peaceful night for a few days.
The next moring a few blocks from where Wade and Quinn slept so peacefully, And evil Q made his plans. He knew he needed to get Quinn out of the hotel room. His slide was in three hours.
About an hour and a half later, evil Q called his double's hotel room. A rather groggy Quinn answered.
"Hello?" said Quinn.
"Hi. This is your double Quinn Mallory. I heard you were in town. I need you to meet me at Motel 6, I need to discuss my sliding machine." said Q.
"Sure, I'll be there in thrity minutes." Said Quinn

Quinn got out of bed, he kissed Wade's forhead. "I gotta go help my double with sliding, I'll be back in a few hours." He told his friends.
He quickly showered and dressed, and headed to Motel 6. He headed to his doom.
He arrived at Room 4 at Motel 6 about 40 minutes later. He knocked on the door. He didn't understand why his double just didn't meet him at the house, unless this too was another slider.
Q opened the door and invitied Quinn inside. Quinn went over to the timer that was sitting on the table, and when he went to turn around to talk to Q, Q greeted him with a punch, that knocked Quinn unconciouse.
He threw a note he had written earlier on the floor beside Quinn's head. Took Quinn's jacket, and headed back to The Dominion hotel, with 20 minutes left till his slide.
Inside Quinn's jacket was the key to the hotel room. Q opened the door, and saw that Quinn's companions were still asleep.
He walked over to the sleeping Wade. "Hey, sweetie. Get up, I need you to come with me for a little bit."
Wade yawned. She got up, and pulled on her jeans. She grabbed her coat, and met Q in the hall.
"Whats up?" She asked, curious.
"I thought we could go out for breakfast, before the others woke up." Said Q. Wade smiled at him. He was relived.
They walked through the park. He peaked at his timer, 5 seconds. Then he grabbed Wade by the neck.
"Quinn! What are you doing?" She asked him, a little alarmed.
"I will explain after the slide." Q said.
"What about the others?" Wade asked.
Q activated his wormhole, and pulled Wade through. She was starting to struggle. Sensing something different about her "Quinn".
Quinn groaned. He didn't even know what had hit him. He started to sit up. Then he noticed, his double was gone. There was a piece of paper on the ground. He picked it up.
Dear Quinn,
Remember me? I took your girl once, and promised I would do it again. Well, I hope you
don't miss her too much. By the time you read this, we have slid. Catch ya around.
Quinn stared at the paper in disbelife. It was his evil double from the last world. He got up and ran back to The Dominion. He opened the door, and scanned the room in horror.
Rembrant was watching TV, and Arutor was reading the morning newspaper.
"Hello my boy" greeted Arturo.
Quinn rushed to the bathroom, it was empty. "Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!" he screamed, dropping to his knees.
"Whats wrong Mr. Mallory?" asked Arutor. Quinn just simply threw the note to The Professor.
"I went to help my double with his timer. It turned out to be my evil double from the last world. He knocked me out, then he must have stolen my jacket and key and came back here and took Wade. He said they were going to slide by the time I came too." Quinn sobbed.
Q landed with a thud on the grass. His grip still around Wade's neck. She struggled a bit. "Quinn, what is wrong with you? Why did we leave the others behind?"
Q looked into her dark brown eyes. "My dear. I don't break my promises. I promised you, that I would see you again."
Wade's eyes widened with fear. It was Quinn's madman double from the last world. She realized that they had just slid, Quinn would never find her! She started to scream! People in the park started to look in their direction.
Back at the hotel room, dimensions away.. Quinn was still on his knees.
Arutro put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Now, now my boy. Remember our timer can track wormholes."
Quinn's eyes brightened. "Of course! I total forgot my double had helped us add that to the timer three worlds ago!"
Quinn heart skipped a beat as he rushed over to the timer, and hit a few buttons. "Yes, here it is. The window to that world opens in three hours. Sorry to cut our vacation short guys, but this is way more important."
Q's grip on Wade tightend, she stopped screaming. Q looked at his timer, "Damnit. We are here for a day."
He pulled her by the hand, to Motel 6. He reserved a room with two beds.
Quinn paced over and over in his hotel room as the hours and minutes ticked down. It felt like years to him. Rembrant and The Professor had gone out for a last meal, they were all to meet in the park. When the timer was at 20 minutes, Quinn headed to the park.
Many dimensions away, at Motel 6, Wade was alone in the hotel room. She considered escaping, but where would she go. She considered going over to Quinn's double on this world. But for all she knew, he could be just as evil.
Quinn met up with Rembrant and The Professor in the park. "2 minutes and counting down guys."
They stood in silence as the time ran down. When the timer beeped, Quinn activated the wormhole and jumped in, followed by Rembrant and The Professor.
They landed with a thud on the soft grass in the park. Quinn opened the timer, "one day and 2 hours, unless we have to track another wormhole"
They reserved a room at The Dominion. Quinn again paced the room. "It's been three hours, our timer has only detected two wormholes into this world. Where could they be?"
Wade was interupted from her thoughts by the hotel room door opening. Q was back. He now had a gun.
"Great. A madman with a gun." thought Wade.
"Its just a precaution." Q explain when he saw her staring at his gun. "Our timer has detected another wormhole entry into this world. It's probably just another group of sliders."
Quinn continued to pace the room. Rembrant and The Professor watched. Getting annoyed Arturo said "Mr. Mallory! Your pacing is not helping Miss Wells. Where did your double stay on the last world?"
Quinn stopped and glared at the Professor. "Motel 6. But its almost midnight, they wouldn't let us in."
"Tommorow, My dear boy. We will wait outside Motel 6. He has to come out sooner or later" Said The Professor. "Right now, we need rest."
Quinn layed down on his bed, and fell asleep.
The next morning bright and early, Rembrant, Quinn, and Professor Arturo were sitting in a cafe accross from Motel 6.
In the small hotel room, Q watched his timer. "We have about an hour left. We gotta leave for the park in about forty minutes."
Wade ignored him. She didn't care if she got stuck here, it would be better than going anywhere with Q.
"Maybe they arent there" said Quinn, getting worried. They had been watching Motel 6 for almost two hours.
"Well Qball, where else could they be?" asked Rembrant. Quinn put his head down to think.
Q grabbed Wade by the hand. He pointed the gun at her, "Don't try anything. I would hate to have to kill you."
They went downstairs, Q checked out, and they headed for the park.
"Quinn, Professor Look!!" Yelled Rembrant pointing.
"Oh my god.." said Quinn. He jumped up from the bench and ran after his double, Rembrant and Arturo were right behind.
Quinn followed his double to the park. He finnaly caught up to them.
Q noticed Quinn running towards them, he grabbed his gun and pointed it at Wade's head.
Quinn, Rembrant, and The Professor stopped a few feet away when they noticed the gun.
"Stay right there or I will kill her" said Q. "Just stay back, and she will be fine."
They watched in silence as Q activated his wormhole and drug Wade through it. Quinn watched, and finnaly made his move he jumped through Q's wormhole.
The Professor and Rembrant looked at each other. "Let's go Mr. Brown." Aruto jumped through.
Rembrant shook his head. then finnaly jumping through.
Rembrant and Arturo were just getting up from their fall out of the wormhole, and they saw Quinn chasing after his double. Wade was kicking Q, the gun must have fallen.
Arturo opened their timer, wondering how the sudden slide would affect it. It reset its self for 10 days and 5 hours.
Suddenly, Rembrant and Arturo heard the gun go off. The scuffle between the two Quinn's stopped. Q had gotten ahold of the gun again, and tried to shoot Quinn. But Wade got in the way.
She fell to the ground. Q panicked, and let go of her. He grabbed his timer and activated the vortex to his home, and jumped through.
Quinn held the lifeless body of his only love. She was slipping away. Arturo ran over to them, Rembrant ran to a pay phone to call an ambulence.
Quinn cradeled her head. She looked up into his blue eyes. "Quinn.. I .. love.. you.." she whispered then slipped into unconciousness.
"No, I wont let go." Said Quinn near tears. A few minutes later the ambulence came and loaded Wade up and sped off to the hospital. Rembrant and Arturo guided a rather dazed looking Quinn into a taxi headed to the hospital.
Rembrant and Arturo were worried about both Wade and Quinn. Quinn just stared at the walls in the waiting room, whispering "No, I won't let go" over and over again.
About three hours later the doctor came out into the waitng room. Quinn stood up to talk to him.
"Mr. Mallory? Mr. Arturo? And Mr. Brown?" The doctor asked. The three men nodded. "Miss Wells has lost alot of blood. She's doing fine, she needs alot of rest. I'm sorry but only one of you can go see her now."
"Mr. Mallory, go see her." said Arturo, patting Quinn's shoulder. "We will bring you a change of clothes tommorow."
"Thanks Professor. I'll call you if anything happens." Quinn waved to his friends now leaving the hospital.
"If you wish to stay the night Mr. Mallory, we can have the other bed in the room made up for you." said the Doctor.
"No, thanks. I can sleep in the chair." said Quinn. The doctor lead him to Wade's room, and walked off to take care of other patients.
Quinn stood over her bed, watching her sleep. He saw the bandage on her right shoulder. He just realized he hadn't even know where the bullet had hit her.
He sat down in the chair, and watch her for a while. She starrted to stir as if having a bad dream.
"Quinn..." She called out in her sleep.
Quinn reached out and touched her hand. "Im right here, It's allright." He watched her open her eyes. She smiled at him.
"Quinn." She said again. She smiled.
"Yep thats me." he laughed and smiled down at her. He touched her cheeck, then began softly singing to her... "You're my sunshine after the rain. My cure against my fear and my pain. I'm losing my mind when you're not around. It's all because.. I love you."
She smiled at him as a tear trickled down her cheeck.
"Don't cry sunshine" he said wiping a tear away.
Her brown eyes became wide, "Quinn, am I really your sunshine?"
"Always" Quinn said soothingly. He moved back down to the chair.
Wade opened her eyes once more. "Quinn. Please lay with me. I just need you close tonight."
Quinn smiled, and layed down in the bed beside her, she turned to face him. She fell asleep. When she started to drift off, Quinn whispered to her "I love you sweetheart."
Quinn watched her, he was so happy things turned out for the better. He didn't know what he would have done with out her. He started to understand his evil double. If he had lost Wade too, he might be the same way. But, even though there are an infinte number of Wades out there, none could capture his heart the way his Wade did. He fell asleep beside her.
