(christian) Catch-22

As many of us Atheists hear, the most common answer to the question of, "how do I know the bible is
true?" is always, "you must have faith!" Now to anyone who has the slightest shread of rational capability,
this is obviously the most retarded answer possible. This answer prety much states you must believe
everything a person says, without any questioning. This logic defies all logic!

The bible might be a little more convincing evidence if it explained who god is, how he came into existence,
why he is in control of the universe, how he creates something out of nothing, and how his "miricals"
happen. The bible is not in any way designed to answer such questions. When reading the bible, you must
first deny all possibilities that it is of fictional origins, that it was not rewritten in favor of the church's beliefs,
it was inspired by god, it was written by competent writters, and most importantly, you MUST already
assume god (the christian god, jehovah) is a real entity somewhere in or outside out universe.

For all atheists not to mention those persons of other faiths, this is a big asumption. To believe in the
christian god and the bible one must toss aside all reasoning capabilities and blindly follow the teachings of
the church (blind faith). Christians truely seem to think people can be converted in this way, by simply telling
them that jesus loves them and god is the one true god and that you must have faith that it is right.
Unfortunatly for them, fortunate for the rest of the world, this connot and does not work!

Especially for skeptics such as myself, Atheists, Agnostics, Humanists, etc.. already have a very well
thought out, rational, way of thinking and views of the universe. We must have very convincing evidence to
make us think any supernatural being is out there watching over us. We have no proof for this god and those
who do believe in it cannot give us any proof. We are left in a real life Catch-22! :

"You must believe in god to know he is real... to believe in a god, Atheists must have proof of his
existance... proof of god's existence can only be found after you truely believe in him... Atheists can't
believe in god until we have proof... and it continues like this forever."

It is quite amusing to listen to christians while they try to explain why I must believe in their god, they sem to
be completely clueless to how we freethinkers process information. They are incapable of understanding our
higher thinking skills and continue on with their ancient conversion techniques. I once heard, I think it was in
my guestbook, that theists are the primitive ansestors of Atheists, we simply evolved to a higher level of
intellegence, which could very well be true!
