Unexpected

Summary Spike and Buffy are in love. Life is great untill Angel comes back from Hell...(Post Becoming story)
N.B. : The story takes place after "Becoming" BUT Angel has NOT been cursed. He's still in Hell. Also, Buffy has neither moved to L.A. nor been expelled.

Part 1

In the library:

"Buffy!" said Willow,"How are you?"
"I'm fine, Will" I answered "But, what's up with you?"
"Me ? I'm just glad to see you."
"Well, I'm glad to see you too"
"What about the rest of us ?" asked Xander.
"I'm glad to see you all, but I mean, I've only been gone for what ? Twenty-four hours ?"
"I know but we weren't sure that you would come back."
"When I left," Xander said, "You were still fighting a vampire."
"Well as you can see, I'm allright"
"So" Cordelia continued "What *did* happen ?"
"I really don't wanna talk about it."
"Then we won't."
"Thanks, Oz. So, Willow, you're out of your wheelchair I see."
"Yes, they let me go home last night. They said that I wouldn't be able to go to school for a couple of days, but I couldn't stand not knowing if you were OK."
"That's so sweet. Now that you know, go home and rest."
"I can rest right here in the library."
"You know what, I'm pretty tired so I'm gonna go home. And you should too, Willow."
"I told you. I wanna stay here !"
"Do whatever you want. Bye!"

As I was headed home, I began to think. How is Hell ? Is Angel really suffering ? I mean, He *is* in Hell! I also wonder how it went for Spike. Last time I saw him, Drusilla was jumping on him. Also, it was day, so the whole escaping issue must have been pretty difficult to deal with. Spike. He's a cutie. I really thought he was a jerk untill... Well, untill he kinda saved the world in an odd kinda way. He really didn't need to do that. I mean, it was kind of, I don't know, nice. Also, he's really a cutie. I mean, those eyes, those icy blue eyes. God, what am I saying?! It's Spike I'm talking about! The demon who tried to kill me more times than I can count! He's still a cutie.

At the same time at Spike and Drusilla's new place:

"Drusilla ? Sweetheart ?"
Spike was talking to Drusilla but wasn't getting any answer. Ever since she'd woken up, she'd refused to talk to him. "Please pet, I beg you, talk to me."
"I don't want to talk to you. You attacked my Angel and you let the mean Slayer kill him."
"OK, I admit that I bloody attacked him but you can't be sure that he's dead. Last time I saw him, he was gonna kill the bitch !"
"I can hear him. Im my head. He's crying for help."
"You know what, Dru ? I bloody give up ! If you're so worried about him, then get the bloody hell out of here and find him ! 'Cuz from now on, you're on your own ! I'm going back there and I'm not taking you with me !"

Part 2

The next evening, on the phone :

"So, Willow, are you feeling better?"
"I guess I do, Buffy, but what about you ? I was worried the other day when you went home. I was even more worried when you didn't come to school the next day."
"As I told you, I was tired. Also, I had some thinking to do."
"About what ?"
"About things. Things like Angel, Acathla and Hell. Things like school, college and my future. Also things like 'how do I feel about Spike'"
"What?!?!"
"I'm gonna tell you what happened the other night and then you will understand."
"All right. Go ahead."
"It started like this: I was outside when a police car stopped. The cop got out and told me to put my hands on my head. He had probably recognized me from the description they had of me. Anyway, I was going to do it, when suddenly, Spike arrives and starts kicking the cop."
"Spike ? You mean our Spike ? William The Bloody ?"
"Yes. I was as suprised as you are. Anyway, he starts to tell me that he wants to stop Angel, wants to save the world. Of course I ask him why he came to me and he tells me that it's because he wants Dru back. The cop started to wake up so I didn't have a choice."
"What did you do ?"
"I invited him to my place."
"You what ?!?!"
"I know, I know, but he seemed friendly and as I already told you, I didn't have the choice."
"So, what happened ?"
"Then, the worst thing that could happen happened."
"You fell in love with him !"
"Of course I didn't ! Not yet, anyway."
"Not yet ? This is getting interesting. So what did happen ?"
"My mother showed up. I had to make up some stupid lie about me and Spike being in a rockband. That's when a vampire jumped out of the bushes. I had to stake him in front of my mother who demanded an explenation."
"What did you say ?"
"I had to tell her the truth. I couldn't lie to her anymore. We had a talk and she totally freaked out."
"What about Spike ? What did he do ?"
"Pretty much nothing. So, my mother and I had the talk and then I made a deal with Spike. Nobody knew that he was out of the wheelchair so he was gonna make sure Giles wouldn't get killed and was gonna attack Angel when I was gonna make my move."
"So he really helped you. But what about Drusilla ?"
"Well, the attacking-Angel thing was Spike's part of the deal. Mine was that I had to let him and Dru get out without being killed."
"So, how did it go ?"
"Well, I got to the mansion and started to fight, then Spike attacked Angel. The real problem was that Dru attacked Spike."
"Huh ?"
"Well she jumped on him to stop him from killing Angel. That's how Angel got up and woke up Acathla. Unfortunatly, Spike had to knock Drusilla out to get out. So, Angel and I began a sword-fight."
"What happened ?"
"Well I won. I sent him and Acathla back to Hell."
"Wow. So that's why you didn't to talk about it."
"Yeah. It was also because of the Spike-issue. I was kinda sad about him leaving Sunnydale. I mean he *is* gorgeous. And funny. And he has the most beautyful eyes I've ever seen."
"He's also a vampire. Without a soul. And he has Drusilla."
"Has he ? I mean, she didn't seem that happy when Spike knocked Angel down."
"You do have a point. Still, he did leave with her, didn't he ?"
"I guess he did. Wait a second. I think I heard something outside."

Part 3

At Buffy's place :

I went to the door. I opened it. It's when I had the suprise of my life :
"Hello Slayer" he said.
"Spike ! My God !"

My first reaction was to pull the stake out of my blouse. When I realised that I didn't have a stake anywhere close to me, I started to hit him. Against my wishes, really.

"Wait a second ! I'm not here to kill ! If I had, you would have been bloody dead for a long time. Don't you remember that I have a free pass to your house ?"
"I guess you're right but what the hell are you doing here ? And where's Drusilla ?"
"Long story. I left her. I had no idea where to go so I came back to the bloody Hellmouth."
"And I thought you were smart."
"Hey, I'm not the one living here, am I ? Anyway, I wanted to know how it went between you and Angel."
"As you can see, I'm alive, the world hasn't been sucked into Hell, so that pretty much means I won."
"I guess it does. So,..."
"Do you wanna, uh, come in?"
"Yeah, thanks."
"Just wait a second, I'm on the phone with Willow."

I couldn't believe my own eyes ! Spike. In my house. Volunteerly ! I told Willow what just happened and hung up.

"So, Slayer, how are things going ?"
"Well, uh, I should be the one asking this. I mean, you're the one who left the love of your life."
"Well, you sent the love of your life to Hell !"
"Well I had a good reason !"
"So did I !"
"Hold on a second. Why are we yelling at each other?"
"I don't know! You're the one who bloody started it !"
"..."
"Sorry. Do you wanna know why I left Dru ?"
"Yeah, I guess I do."
"Well, it's simple. Ever since she woke up, she wouldn't talk to me. After a while, she started to talk. Actually, she started to bloody accuse me of killing Angel, of helping you to kill him... I decided that I was tired of her. So I left. That's it. What about you ? I mean, how did it feel to send Angel to Hell ?"
"It was difficult. Very difficult. But I had to face it. Angel was gone and I was never gonna get him back. Even if Willow could have cursed him again, I was afraid I couldn't stand being with him without making the same mistake I did the first time."

I couldn't control myself. Even if I fought against it with all my heart, I started to cry. It was pretty embarrassing. A Slayer crying in front of a vampire. Worse, me crying in front of Spike. Then he did the strangest thing : he came closer and held around me. It felt good. When I stopped crying I said:

"Thank you. I'm OK now."
"Are you sure ?"
"Yes."
"Then I should be going."
"No! Wait!"
"What is it ?"
"My Mother's in L.A. for the next two days and I really don't feel like being alone right now."
"You mean, you want me to stay here. With you ?"
"Well, yes. You can sleep im my bedroom 'cuz there isn't a lot of sunlight in it and I can take my Mum's bedroom."
"It's OK with me but I still have to feed."
"Do you really really have to ?"
"I guess I don't."
"Thank you for staying with me. And thank you for not leaving me to feed. And thank you for not killing me."
That's when he kissed me. Spike kissed me. I told myself that I was crazy, that he was a vampire, that couldn't get involved with another vampire. Also, this one didn't have a soul !

Part 4

The next morning ( just before sunrise ) at Buffy's house :

"Spike ?"
"Yes pet, what is it ?"
"Here's my room. Angel stayed here once and didn't have any problems with the sunlight. I'm gonna shut every window, door or anything that could let the sun in. Hope you'll be allright. I have to go to school to check on the others. I don't want them to be worried for me."
"Wait a second. You're not gonna tell them about what happened, are you ?"
"Of course not ! But I did tell Willow that you came last night. I just hope that she didn't tell anybody."
"Well, so do I."
"See you later, Spike."
"See you. "


In the library :

"Willow"
"Yes Giles ?"
"Did Buffy tell you if she was planing on coming to school today ?"
"No, but she said that she was feeling better."
"I guess that means that she will be coming after all."
"Who ?"
"Buffy !" Xander said "So, you're feeling better I can see."
"Yes, I'm feeling better. Willow can I talk to you in private ?"
"Sure. Could you, uh, excuse us ?"
"Yeah, well, we have to get to class anyway. Bye."
"Thank you Xander."
"So, Buffy, what is it you wanted to talk to me about ?"
"Well, you know last night when Spike came ?"
"Yeah, what happened ?"
"Well, that's the part I can't tell you. Could you please keep it to your self ?"
"Of course ! But did anything happen ? I mean anything good ?"
"Well, all I can tell you is that, well, he's still at my place."
"That's a good for you but be careful. He's not like Angel, he doesn't have a soul."
"Don't worry, I know."
"Yeah, well, be careful. Are you gonna stay at school today ?"
"I guess I am. What else can I do ?"
"Shouldn't we get to class ?"
"We should."

Later the same day at Buffy's :

"Spike ? Where are you ?"
"I'm right here, luv."
"So, how did it go ?"
"Fine. I got a little bored after a couple hours but it was OK."
"I guess that you'll have to feed tonight, huh ?"
"Yeah, I will."
"Do you mind if I stay here while you go out and kill people ? Oh, and don't kill any of my friends !"
"I won't, ducks."

Spike started talking to himself :

"I can't believe it, me Spike, fooling around with the bloody Slayer ! I still wonder how Dru is doing, I mean, she hasn't been on her own in what, two centuries ? Actually, I don't think that she's ever been on her own. Anyway, it's her fault, she left me fot that creep, Angelus."
"Who is it you're calling a creep ?"
"My God, Angelus !"
