Summary :Buffy goes on vacation and meets someone she thought she'd never see again...

Part 1
Even if it happened a while ago, I'm still amazed over what happened the first time I took some time off from being a Slayer. I guess you can always count on fate...
It all started when I got sick and had to stay at the hospital....
"Buffy, you can't go on like that. It's gonna kill you!"
"I know Xander, but I'm the Slayer. Taking a vacation is like breaking the law or something !"
"But... I'm gonna talk to Giles about this, we'll see what he thinks about it."
"Xander, don't bother Giles. Not tonight at least. Let him rest."
"Allright, I'll ask him later. By the way, Willow and Oz are stopping by later. Do you want me to stay here tonight ? You know, since your Mom had to go on one of her art-buying trips."
"Yeah, sure. It gets really boring around here, it's good to have someone around."
"So, if you could go on vacation, where would you go ?"
"Europe. I'd love to go to France or something."
"Do you want me to go with you ?"
"Xander ! Hey, Willow and Oz are here."
"Buffy ! How are you ?"
"I'm fine, Willow. Oz, long time no see."
"Sorry about that. It was that time of the month. And I don't like hospitals, they give me the wiggins."
"Oh, I see. Anyway, it's nice to see you. Xander, tell them about what you said to me."
"I think that Buffy should go on vacation. With me if it's possible."
"Actually Buffy, it's not such a bad idea."
"Oh, Willow, not you too !"
"Look at yourself ! You're in a hospital bed, again. You're skin and bones. And anyway, you don't need to worry about us. We can manage."
"I don't know. I'll get bored without you guys. We're the Scooby Gang !"
"That's why I wanna go with you."
"Whatever. We'll talk to Giles later."
"What do you want to talk to me about ?"
"Giles, what are you doing here ? You know that I'm gonna get in trouble if the nurse sees you all in my room at this hour."
"We'll be quiet. So, what is it ?"
"We all think that Buffy should go on a vacation."
"What a good idea !"
"Here we go again ! I don't need a vacation ! And anyway, where would I get the money ?"
"I could lend it to you."
"Giles, it's really nice of you but... What about Xander ? Where will he get the money ?"
"So, now I can come with you ? Giles can lend me the money as well. Or I could just ask my parents."
"Do you really think that they're gonna let you go on a trip alone with a girl that they've never met ? And what about my Mom ?"
"I could talk to her. Buffy, don't try to fight, you and Xander are going on vacation !"
After that, things went a little fast so I don't really remember what happened. Xander was thrilled and so was I. We had decided to got to France. Especially to the French Riviera. People say that it looks a lot like L.A., well they're wrong. It's much more peacefull and it's beautiful.
I think that the first time I saw him was the night Xander and I landed in Nice....
"God that was a long flight ! I can't remember the list time I saw daylight !"
"Neither can I, Xander. What time is it ?"
"Well, about 1 p.m. In California."
"Oh, right, I totally forgot about that. That means that it's about
10 p.m. here. Let's just check into a hotel, get to sleep and never wake up."
"Fine with me, Buffy. Hey, look over there. That man looks just like Spike."
"Yeah, he sure does. Wait a second, it is Spike ! Oh my God ! Should I go talk to him ?"
"Are you crazy ?! What if he bites you ?"
"Yeah, right, in the middle of an airport. Come with me."
"Buffy I don't want to..."
"Hi Spike !"
"Slayer ! And Slayerette ! What the bloody hell are you doing here ?"
"We're supposed to be on vacation. What about you ?"
"Vacation ? What about Sunnyhell ?"
"Yeah, well, things are really quiet since I killed Angel."
"You killed Angel ?! That's why she... I gotta get with the program !"
"Where's Drusilla ?"
"Well, she kinda killed herself."
"What ?!"
"I think that she knew that you had killed Angel. One morning, after spending the whole night crying, she just walked out. In sunlight."
"Oh my God. I'm sorry."
"Don't be, I'm not. If it's what she really wnated, then I'm happy for her. I gotta move on with my life. What's the deal about him ? Are you her new pet or something ?"
"Helas, no."
"It's Xander. Don't you remember him ?"
"No. So, where are you two staying ?"
"We don't know yet. I guess we're just gonna find an hotel and do the rest tomorrow."
"That's what I'm gonna do too."
"Well, why don't we check into the same hotel ?"
"Hi ! For those who just tuned in, everyone here is a crazy person. I'm sorry to ruin your touchy-feeling moment here, but I don't wanna be in the same hotel as DeadBoy here !"
"Xander !"
"I'm sorry, Buffy. But it's him or me!"
"Of course it's you, Xander. You know what Spike ? Here's the number for my beeper. We'll see you tomorrow night, OK ?"
"Yeah, sure. See ya !"
After Xander's little scene, we found an hotel. Unfortunately, they only got one room left. But the worst part was that Spike had the room across the hall. So, the next evening, Spike, Xander and I went out....
"How do you like your vacation so far, Buff ?"
"I'm having such a great time ! Still, I miss the others."
"Why didn't the rest of your little friends come along ?"
"Well, Spike, someone's gotta watch the Hellmouth, right ? And since I'm the one that's been doing it for the past three years now, I think that I deserve a vacation."
"What about him, then ?"
"Well, I can't go by myself !"
"Yeah, right. Has neither one of you ever been here before ?"
"No, I can't say that I have."
"Me neither."
"Well, I have, so let me take you to the best clubs around !"
"Let's rock !"
And boy we rocked ! Xander was kinda angry at me for spending so much time with Spike. So, the day after, I planned to spend the whole day with him and only him. He wanted to go to the beach so we went to the beach and I must say, we had a great time...
"Buffy, after a day like that, there's something I gotta tell you. It may ruin our trip but I really need to tell you."
"Go ahead, Xander."
"Well, you know that I had a crush on you, right ? And I told you that I was thru with that, right ? Well, I wasn't. Buffy, I'm still in love with you. I've always been and I will always be."
"Xander I..."
"I know, you don't feel the same way about me but I just had to tell you."
"My God, Xander. I love you too. But just as a friend."
"I know that but I don't like seeing you getting along with Spike ! He tried to kill you, me, your Mom, me, Willow and pretty much everyone else."
"I know, I know, but he's fun ! And you would find him fun too, if you tried to get to know him."
"Buffy, he's a vampire ! You just don't get it, do you ? You're the Slayer and you have to kill him !"
"No, I left the Slayer in Sunnydale. Here I'm just Buffy."
"And Spike is a vampire only in Sunnydale ? Buffy, I don't know what's gotten in to you. It seems to me like you're a different person since you killed Angel."
"Don't you blame it on Angel ! Don't you remember that I killed him to save your life ? Doesn't that mean anything to you ?"
"Of course it does but look at you. It makes me sad to see you like that."
"What do you mean ? I'm fine !"
" 'I'm fine' It's becoming your motto ! Buffy I'm just worried about you."
"I know. Maybe you're right. Maybe I should slow down a little. Why don't we get back to the hotel ?"
"Yeah, sure."
So I slowed down. But just a little. I still wanted to go out with Spike but I didn't. Not in the beginning anyway....
"Xander, we've been in here a week now. That means that we have only a week left. And I plan on having the greatest time ever. And I also plan on seeing Spike."
"Buffy..."
"No, I mean it. And you can't stop me."
"Buffy I..."
"I told you, you can't stop me."
"Buffy let me talk. I think it's great idea. I've been thinking and maybe I've been a little jealous."
"A little ?"
"Okay, I've been an asshole the whole time but now, I'm aware of it and I think that we should spend some time with the only person or vampire that we know around here."
"Finally. What time is it ?"
"It's about 7 p.m. Why ?"
"We have about two hours 'till sundown. I say we go across the hall and talk to Spike."
"Sure."
After Xander's 'breakthrough', the three of us had a wonderful time. We got to know Spike better and may I say, he's now a totally different person. I guess Drusilla's death changed him. Sure, he still feeds on human but he doesn't plan on destroying the world anymore. Xander didn't like the fact that Spike and I were getting so close but he didn't say anything. I really enjoyed being with Spike. Untill I realized that I was falling in love with him....
I think it was something like two days before we went back to Sunnydale. Spike and I were alone outside. Xander had already gone to bed. Spike and I were just sitting outside talking...
"...Then I moved to Sunnydale with my Mom and I think you know the rest."
"Wow, I had no idea how your life was before you found out you were the Slayer."
"Yeah, well, you know. It's not a big deal."
"So, what's the deal with that Xander guy ? He doesn't seem to like me so much."
"Nooo, you think ? Xander's great. He's my best friend, actually. But he's in love with me."
"And you're not in love with him. I see. So, he's just jealous, right ?"
"Yes. But what is there to be jealous about ? It's not like..."
"Can I kiss you ?"
"WHAT ?! Uh, I mean, yeah, sure, go ahead."
So Spike and I got together. In secret. I mean, we couldn't tell Xander, could we ? I really wanted to say goodbye to Spike at the airport so Xander and I changed our day-flight into a night-flight. It was so sad. There I was, about to go on board when I asked Spike...
"Are you sure you don't wanna come back with us ? It's safe. There will be no sunlight."
"Buffy, I'd love to but how are you gonna explain it to your friends ?"
"Don't worry about them. Xander's gone on board and please, I just wanna be with you."
"What the Hell ! I'm coming with you !"
So that's how Spike and I got together. Xander didn't talk to me for about two weeks when he found out about me and Spike. But they are now best friends. The rest of the Gang were pretty wigged out at first but they don't mind having Spike around anymore. So, I guess that what they say is real, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
