Chapter Fourteen

Next Morning

The girls where all with the expectation of Cordelia sitting in the dinning room and waiting for breakfast. The May Queen had surprised the girls by volunteering to make them all a late breakfast before they headed for a day at the mall. Willow and the Boyle sisters would have refused had it not been for Buffy telling them that Cordelia was a good cook and the only reason the took the Slayers word was because she and Cordelia where partners in Home Ec. since earlier in the year.

All right you guys, hope you like pancakes, cause I made a lot! Cordelia said placing a platter of pancakes and various other foods in front of the girls.

This is so good! Shani exclaimed digging into the food, the other girls nodded their agreement with mouths full.

Thank, no offense but you eat like Xander, major gross. Cordelia replied wrinkling her nose in distaste.

Where did you learn to cook Cordelia, I mean cooking isn't something I can picture you doing, it's just not you! Willow finished surprised.

Well see when I was little we had this maid Anna, she was really nice and she was like a mother to me, more than my own mother ever was. Anna was really old, but a fabulous cook which was the only reason my father kept her employed well I was always bored so I would go talk to Anna and finally after begging her relentlessly Anna taught me how to cook. She didn't have any daughters, so she taught me all her family secret recipes. The pancakes are my favorite of all the recipes. Cordelia finished.

What happened to Anna? Shani asked.

She died, she was old and there was a robbery at our ski cabin, we had bought Anna along with us. Anna tried to protect me and she died from a heart attack. It was all my fault, I wouldn't give them my necklace. Cordelia said tearfully fingering the necklace that she always wore.

Oh Cordelia I'm so sorry! Willow said

It was not your fault Cordelia, Anna died of natural causes. Buffy said comfortingly as the sisters also nodded their agreements.

You said yourself that Anna was old, she could have died whether you had been in the cabin or, it wasn't your fault she had a heart attack. Tara said sternly.

All right that's enough depressing talk let's go the mall now, besides like my mascara is running because off all these tears. Cordelia said slightly smiling as she fixed her make-up making the other girls laughed as they walked to the car.

Each girl had even a better opinion of her, and the two Sunnydale residents saw another Cordelia than they had first met.
