The Contentment Series:
Disclaimer: I don't own anyone. I wish that I did then I could make some money. But seriously the storyline is mine. Vicky, Steve, Angelica, Angelique (the babies), Marie the maid, John and Pete and Oscar, belong to me. And the song is mine. I wrote it and it's called Haunted. On one last note, I would like to say that it may be just a smidge far fetched. The 100 or 200 billion dollars thing is my fantasy and I'm allowed one right It's my fic after all. Okay, now here is my lovely story that I love so much.
Epilogue
Buffy lay against Angel's chest as he stroked her back softly. She reached up and kissed his chin and then lay back again.
"Buffy I nee-"
"Angel I sho-" they both spoke at the same time. They laughed for a minute.
Buffy nuzzled his nose. "Go ahead," Angel said.
She let out a little sigh and nervously began. "Angel it's been awhile since I've seen my friends. Like a week." Angel looked at her confused.
"But you saw Xander and Willow yestreday right?"
Buffy giggled and relaxed a little. "Angel I didn't know you were so dense. You just sounded like Xander."
Angel scrunched his face up. "Well then I take that comment back."
"What I'm saying is, I didn't have my period yet. Last night I brought home a pregnancy test and it pretty much said I was pregnant," she looked up so she could see Angel's face.
He looked at her not angry or unhappy, just sort of shocked. "I thought immortals couldn't have children. Except for Vicky but her case is special." Buffy sat up.
"And so is ours."
He finally looked into Buffy's eyes deeply and a small smile on his face. "I'm going to be a father. We're going to be parent's. Like a family?"
Buffy smiled as she saw the excitement rising and his voice and showing in his eyes. She knew that when he was a vampire with a soul, that he often wished that he had someone to love and a family of his own, but it was pretty much impossible. "Yes, yes, and yes. So are you happy about this?"
He pulled her close and hugged her as tight as he could. "I...I am more than happy. I can't even describe it. Buffy I love you with all my heart and soul. With everything that I have. I swear that I will do all that I can to protect you and this baby. I will be a good father and husband to yo-" Right there, he knew that he had just said more than he should have. Buffy looked at him cautiously but she couldn't control her excitement and the hopfulness in her eyes.
"What did you just say?"
Angel pulled from their embrace and went behind the mattress and pulled out a tiny box. Buffy looked at it suprised. "Well...I didn't tell you exactly the whole thing about the claddagh ring."
Buffy looked at him confused. "You told me about what it represented and all." He nodded.
"But I never told you what the actual ring itself is. It's an Irish wedding band. Once the heart is pointed inward on both people, you are considered officially man and wife, unless of course you protest. But after the ring is on and you consumate the relationship, by the laws of the land of my people, you are officially married. Buffy, that night when we said we could never be together, I knew that it was for the best, but I vowed that I was going to find a way around it. I love you with all of my heart. I know how much you would like a real wedding so I want to give you one with no stops. I want you to re-marry me in front of our friends and family. Would you do that?"
She pulled him in for a passionate kiss. She could feel his hands rubbing her stomache gently and she shivered a little. "You mean to tell me that all this time we haven't just been living as husband and wife, but that we are husband and wife? That's what Vicky was about to tell me wasn't she? That's why you were trying to tell her to be quiet!"
He put his head down, almost to ashamed to look at her. She gently put her hand under his chin. He only looked up to see her smiling radiantly. "Yes I will Angel Edmington."
Angel pulled away with a little embarrassed look. "Who told you that? Vicky?"
She nodded mischievously. "I asked her what your last name was and she said it was Angelus Edmington. She also told me you hated it because it didn't sound like it went with your first name. I know you hate your name Angelus, but it sounds sexy, especially with a middle name like Michealangelo."
Angel looked at her darkly. "I don't use my last name anymore. I don't feel honored and I don't feel like I should use the family name and disgrace it."
"That's not true. Anyone would love to have you as a son. Angel, the things that were done in your body is not something you did. It was like you were drugged and you didn't know who you were. You had no control. Don't blame yourself. I think you're just fine. Besides, your sister sees that in you. I think your parents are looking down at you right now glad that you've gotten this far. And that's why I love you Angelus Michealangelo Edmington," she said smiling at him. He looked at her icily.
"If you know what's good for you, you'll call me Angel."
A little snicker came from Buffy's mouth. Angel hugged her again and then let go suddenly. When Buffy asked what was wrong he told her it was nothing and maybe they should go to sleep. Finally understanding what he was doing she looked at him sharply.
"Angel you aren't going to be one of those pre father's that don't touch their wife because he's afraid that she'll lose the baby are you? 'Cause I'm not a piece of glass you know. I won't break." He smiled sheepishly.
"Maybe," was all he offered her. She kissed his neck and he replied by kissing her nose.
"If you know what's good for you, you'll do as I say." He lingered his look at her and kissed her again on the nose and then her mouth and then finally on her neck. He couldn't wait to spend the rest of his life with her forever.
The End
