Part One
"How long does it take to get ice cream?" Buffy entered the kitchen, complaining to Willow about Oz taking too long during an errand run for ice cream to accompany the cake for Jena's birthday.
"Relax, Buffy." Willow set out the cups and paper plaits on the table. "Oh," Willow quickly turned to face her best friend. "Can you run and get the helium tank? The kids will be here in about an hour and a half." She reasoned as well as gave a pleeding look towards Buffy.
"Sure." Buffy watched as the redhead gleamed in satisfaction and thanks. Buffy walked back around the corner to peer into the living room. Angel, Xander and Anya were gathered about Jena as she talked, more like babbled. The men were only able to comprehend about a forth of the words coming from her tiny mouth. The only responses that expelled from their own bodies were, "Uh, huh. Thats right! Yeah..." and, "Ohhhh..." Anya paid no attention what so ever to this. She was preoccupied with the light rubbing of her son's back as she tried to keep him asleep on the couch.
"I'm going to go get Andrew and Felicia from the neighbor's. I'll be right back, Guys." Willow quickly explained herself and walked out of the house to pick up her son and daughter; Andrew, 3 and Felicia,1.
"Angel, come with me to get the helium tank, please!" She called from one side of the room to where he sat, on the other, getting her purse and keys.
"Sure. Xander, Anya,"he gestured to his daughter that sat before them all.
"Of course, no prob. Jena, do you want to play a game? How about hide-n-go seek?" Xander shot out ideas of how to keep her mind off the parting of her parents. She stood up, immediatly excited.
"Whoa there, Little one." Angel grabbed her up and hugged and kissed her playfully in the air. Buffy walked up to the pair and kised Jena on the cheek.
"Bye, Sweetie. Mommy and Daddy'll be back in a few minutes. Do as Xander and Anya say and be good, okay?" Buffy gave her usual lecture before leaving.
"Yes," came with a nod as well from the dark, wavy locked head of her little girl.
"Okay, I love you." Buffy kissed her once again on the head and waited for Angel to give his farewells.
"Give your daddy a kiss." He offered his cheek, she gladly obligied. "I love you."
"I love you too, Daddy." He put her down and walked out with Buffy at the lead.
Xander stood up anticipating what could happen when her parents left and yelled out, "One, Two, three, NOT IT!" Jena put her hands on her hips.
"Uncle Xander, thats not fair!"
"Okay, is that all we needed?" Angel was locking up the back doors to the back of the cruiser.
"Yep!" Buffy pipped near his side.
"We go then?" Angel turned and looked at her. Their bodies so very near. Almost touching.
"Not yet." Buffy gave him a coniving smile.
"But you just said-" Buffy smuthered his words as well as his mouth with her lips. Nothing was small about this kiss. This kiss had history, passion, love, bondage. Finally after what seemed like minutes, Buffy let him breath again.
"Oh." Was all that Angel could say. Followed with a smile of acknowledgment. Buffy returned the smile and returned to kissing him.
It was a half hour ago that they had left to get the helium. As they pulled up to the drive they realized another car was missing besides Oz's and their own. Upon entering the Willow's house once again, their stomach's churned.
The house was a reck compared to what they left it with. Along with the people in it. No one was in site. The living room was abandoned. Pillows were torn and slashed. The table with the cake, cups and plaits was turned over in a squeshed pile of vanilla cake and icing. Chairs were placed in odd places in the middle of the room and knocked down. Buffy's first thought was, "Jena." She turned to Angel and whispered under her breath, not intending it to be said alloud. Angel shot her a worried and paranoid glance. They shared thoughts.
"Oh god." They said in unison as they allowed everything to sink in.
"Willow, Jena!" Buffy called out as she quickly began to check all of the rooms.
"Jena!" Angel tried again.
"In here!" A voice called from a room at the end of the house's main hall. The two of them rushed over to meet the source. It was Willow, sitting with her two kids on her lap in the rest room, sitting on the toilet. Anya, with her son too, sat on a stool near to her.
"Oh, God." Buffy released in her deep sigh. She checked the room, what she was truly looking for wasn't there. "Where's Jena?" Buffy looked to Willow for an answer.
"They took her." Willow hestitantly answered.
Buffy lost her balance and faltered near the door. Angel almost didn't catch her from falling on the hard tiled floor. He helped her slid down leaning against the wall. "No...No...Angel...Our baby." She cried to him. Angel didn't know what to think. He wanted to believe that she was still alive, as a prayful father. But then again, an Ex-Vampire and present fighter of CONSTANT evil, he just couldn't make any promises to anyone. Including himself.
