As Kenshi entered the driveway to his house, he saw that Tanso was already there sitting at the edge of the porch. He drove up beside the house and parked the car. As he got out of the car, Tanso stood up.
Tanso asked, "Did you have any luck?"
Kenshi's response was anticipated by the unhappy look on his face. "No."
"Well what happened?"
"There were no government officials in the building. Just some crazy guy who decided to make his place there after it was vacant."
"A centra?"
"Yes."
Tanso leaned back against the porch. "Ya know, Kenshi, maybe you're missing the most obvious places to look."
Kenshi's face started to show interest. "What do you mean?"
"I don't think the government would abduct her just because they wanted to. I could be wrong... but I have a feeling that Leslie's parents have something to do with it."
Kenshi smiled a bit. "God I feel stupid. It's a good thing I have you to come up with ideas."
Tanso laughed slightly. "You just didn't think of it because you were irrational. I, on the other hand, am still sane."
"If you weren't a male and so ugly, I'd kiss you."
Tanso smirked. "I guess I'm lucky I am then."
"Well the longer I wait to visit their house, the less likely I am to find anything."
"I'll go with you to make sure you don't do anything irrational."
Kenshi smirked. "Don't worry, unless you consider killing her parents irrational, you have nothing to worry about."
Tanso raised his eyebrows. "I'm definitely going with you."
Kenshi laughed. "Then get in the car before I leave you."
Kenshi got in the driver side of his Cougar while Tanso entered the passenger side. Kenshi left his driveway spinning the tires.
Tanso gripped the door handle and yelled, "You're going to kill us all."
"Surely you're not scared. And you laughed at me for being scared of flying. Besides, there are only two of us and neither of us would die from a car crash."
"You could kill other people and that's not cool."
Kenshi laughed. "There's no one around. You're just making excuses."
Tanso smiled a bit. "You're acting rather happy considering you don't have Leslie back yet."
"Well I have a good feeling about this trip. I know we'll come across something."
Tanso sighed a little. "I hope you're right."
A moment later, Kenshi pulled into Leslie's old driveway. There were no cars parked there aside from Kenshi's. The two centra got out of the car and walked to the front door. Kenshi tried the door knob but it was locked as expected. He pushed on the door with his right hand and the door frame around the handle ripped as the door was forced open. The two walked in.
"What a mess," said Tanso. "Is it usually like this?"
Kenshi shrugged. "I've never actually been in here before."
The two started sifting through the debris scattered along the floor. There were many papers and clothes as well as various other stuff.
"Hey Kenshi," Tanso called.
Kenshi looked at him with wide eyes. "What is it?!"
"Can I wear Leslie's mother's panties on my head?" he said smirking. Kenshi narrowed his eyes. "I was just joking you know."
The two continued searching. Kenshi noticed the computer in the corner of the room and walked to it.
Tanso asked, "How much do you know about computers Kenshi?"
Kenshi responded as he turned on the power, "Quite a bit. They make so much more sense than people."
Tanso walked over and watched as the computer booted. It showed a screen saying "Windows 98" for about a minute. Then it went to a screen with several icons and a bar at the bottom.
Tanso asked, "What can you check on here?"
Kenshi responded, "Well I'm connecting to the internet right now. I figure the best place to start searching is through their browser history."
Tanso scratched his head. "Sounds like a plan to me."
Kenshi opened the browser and clicked the history button.
"What's this?" Tanso questioned.
"This shows me everywhere they've went on the internet lately." Kenshi smirked. "... and I think I'll start with their e-mail."
He made his way to the e-mail page and started reading the subject titles. "'Hot lesbians for your viewing pleasure'. 'Sexy Orientals cuming to meet you'. I see what they use the internet for."
Tanso pointed at a title. "What's that?"
Kenshi looked at it. "Sorry that you have to leave" Kenshi said, "I don't know but it looks like it's worth looking at." He clicked on the title and the computer displayed the message.
"I hate to hear that you're leaving. Of course I would be too if my daughter was getting involved with one of those centra. I guess you have to do what you have to do. But surely you can still contact me from wherever it is you'll be staying at. I'll miss you my little sister."
Kenshi frowned. "Well that wasn't very helpful."
Tanso urged him to keep searching. Kenshi continued searching on the computer for over an hour while Tanso searched around the house. Finally they came to the conclusion that they weren't going to find anything useful.
Kenshi sighed. "It's a real pity that we can't bring the house with us, but luckily, that's not the case with this computer."
Tanso replied, "Good idea. Maybe you'll think of something later. I did my best looking through the house though; if there is something here, it must be hidden well."
"Don't worry about it. We'll figure something out. I won't let those bastards keep Leslie."
After Kenshi disassembled the computer, the two carried the parts and put them in the car. Before leaving, they briefly searched through the yard but had no better luck. Finally they left and traveled back to Kenshi's house. Upon arriving, they moved the computer parts into Kenshi's living room.
Tanso asked, "You care if I check my messages while I'm here?"
Kenshi shrugged. "Go ahead."
Tanso picked up the phone and dialed a number. Kenshi sat in a chair staring hopelessly at the computer. After Tanso listened to the phone for a moment, he placed it back on the base with wide eyes.
Kenshi noticed and asked, "What's up?"
"The government found out that Ron helped you go to Washington and they've arrested him. He's being held in the Nineveh jail for now."
Kenshi narrowed his eyes. "Then I guess that's my next priority."
"Kenshi, what exactly are you going to do?"
Kenshi smiled. "Don't worry, I'm just going to bring him back home. I won't even hurt anyone if they don't force me to."
"Should I come with you?"
"No, I'd prefer that you stay here and watch my house if that's cool with you."
Tanso nodded his head and Kenshi walked out of the house. Tanso shook his head in grief as he watched Kenshi leave the driveway.
Kenshi wasted no time getting to his destination. It was, however, a long drive which took almost 45 minutes. He found a parking space in front of the Nineveh police department. The people around watched Kenshi as he walked in. Once inside, Kenshi walked up to the front desk as many others watched. He questioned the man behind the desk, "Where is the jail section?"
The man responded arrogantly, "What's it to you?"
Kenshi started gripping the wooden desk, causing it to crack. "Look here you son of a bitch, I haven't been in the best of moods lately with the government taking my most cherished of things from me. I didn't come here with intentions to kill anyone but if you continue to antagonize me, I might have to make an exception just for you."
The man leaned back away from Kenshi some. He pointed down a hallway. "All the way down."
Kenshi released his desk and smirked a little. "That's better."
He started walking down the long corridor. Everyone was watching him as before. After a moment, he reached the door. He looked through the small window and saw the jail cells. He tried to open the door but it was locked. His fist easily knocked the door down. He looked around and saw Ron in a cell alone who was already looking back.
"Kenshi, I didn't expect to see you here."
Kenshi walked up to the cell door. "Let's just say I came to bail you out." Kenshi started pulling on the door, which after a few seconds, broke and slid open, crashing against the iron catch.
"Thanks Kenshi, I guess this makes us even."
Kenshi shook his head. "Not quite, this was my responsibility since you ended up here because of me. I still owe you."
The two started walking out of the jail chamber. They walked down the long corridor. When they entered the main area again, there were more people staring at them. One of the civilians yelled out, "Kill the traitor."
Kenshi watched one of the many policemen raise his pistol and point it at Ron. Before he managed to fire a shot though, Kenshi lunged at the man and formed his sword. The man only had time to change his expression to fear before Kenshi's sword cut through his neck and decapitated his head. Before the body even hit the ground, Kenshi had already jumped at the civilian who had ordered the feat. The man started to lean back, but only managed to move a few inches before Kenshi's sword pierced through his abdomen and exited through his back. Kenshi then pulled his sword to the side, causing it to slice through the man's body and leaving him cut nearly in half.
Kenshi looked around at all the people still gathered around. "I said I was in a bad mood. Let me suggest that no one else try anything stupid like that. In fact, you probably shouldn't move or I might do something harsh again."
Kenshi watched them for a moment. They were being as still as their fear would let them. Then he stepped out of the building followed by Ron who was quite shocked himself.
As they walked to the car, Kenshi said, "I'm sorry you had to watch something like that but I wouldn't let them kill you because of me."
Ron, beyond the point of rational thought, replied, "Umm... okay."
Kenshi clenched his fist. "Let's just get out of here before something else happens."
They both got into Kenshi's car and Kenshi drove off. Not much was said on the ride home because of the tension. After the long ride, they both entered Kenshi's house to find Tanso laying down on the couch.
"Well you look relaxed," Kenshi started.
Tanso smiled. "I could go for this house-watching business. You even have cable TV. How did the jail break go? You didn't kill anyone did you?" There was a momentary silence in the room before Tanso continued, "Kenshi...?"
Kenshi pleaded, "He left me with no choice. He was going to kill Ron if I didn't do anything."
Tanso sighed. "Well at least you only killed one man."
"Well... actually two men," he responded.
Tanso narrowed his eyes. "You're becoming more of a killer everyday you're without Leslie."
Kenshi hesitated for a moment. "I think I'm going to look on their computer some more. Maybe I can find something useful."
As Kenshi walked toward the pile of computer parts and Ron stepped further into the room, Tanso asked, "Do you need any help assembling that thing? I hope not."
Kenshi laughed a little. "Nah, I can handle it easily."
As Tanso acted like he was wiping sweat from his brow, Ron asked, "Where did that come from?"
Tanso replied, "From Leslie's old house. We confiscated it for clues."
Ron asked, "Have you found anything on it yet?"
Kenshi replied, "No. Things aren't looking too promising so far. I'm about to look through their e-mail once more, check all the e-mails we missed and check the trash folder." As he finished assembling the computer, Kenshi turned on the power and sat behind it.
Ron replied, "Good idea. Were there any floppy disks or cd's with it?"
Kenshi looked up. "I didn't see any. This computer was pretty much by itself. That seems kind of odd though." Kenshi's eyes seemed to widen a little.
Tanso asked, "What is it Kenshi?"
Kenshi said, "I don't remember this e-mail being here. It must be new, but it's marked as read."
As Kenshi clicked on the title, Tanso and Ron approached to have a look. Kenshi started reading the letter aloud. "I'm so glad to hear from you. I was afraid you wouldn't be able to respond for months if at all. I'm sorry to hear that Leslie isn't liking the new place although I'm sure she'll come around..." Kenshi stopped reading before he got to the end. "Surely they weren't that stupid."
Tanso asked, "What are you talking about Kenshi?"
Kenshi clicked on the "Folders" link on the left side of the browser. "No, there's no way I could get so lucky. It can't be." He clicked on a link that appeared that said "Sent Folder".
Tanso asked again, "Kenshi, what's going through your head right now?"
Kenshi said, "Here it is," as he clicked on the top title on the page with a smile on his mouth.
Ron stated, "I'm curious of what idea he has."
After the message appeared, Kenshi's smile grew larger as his eyes started to water. He pointed to a section in the header, four sets of numbers separated by periods.
Ron asked, "That's an IP address, isn't it?"
Kenshi answered, "Yes, and with luck, it'll tell us what computer this message was sent from." Kenshi walked over to his own computer and opened a program on it. "Could one of you read the address to me?"
Ron stepped in front of the monitor and read the set of numbers to Kenshi as Kenshi typed. After a few seconds, Kenshi smiled again briefly. Then he asked, "What does KMSH stand for?"
As Tanso shrugged, Ron answered, "Kansas Military Safe House. When I was in the military, I had to visit there once. I can still picture the letters painted on the building."
Kenshi smiled again with eyes full of hope. "Do you remember where this place is located?"
Ron replied, "In Kansas."
Kenshi narrowed his eyes but couldn't remove the smile from his face. "I meant do you know exactly where it is?"
"I know approximately. I'm sure I could find it in an airplane. I'd be willing to take you there. I'd like to meet this Leslie of yours anyway."
Kenshi replied, "Thank you, but I'm sure it'll be quite dangerous. I don't want you risking yourself for me."
Tanso jumped back into the conversation. "Don't worry, I'll come along too to make sure nothing happens to him while you do your thing."
Kenshi's eyes watered from happiness. "Thank you so much. You're only a red sword but they'll probably be concentrating enough on me that you'll be able to take care of your share."
Tanso formed an orange sword in his hand. "I'm no longer a red sword and I'm sure I can handle whatever they throw at me."
A tear dripped down Kenshi's face and fell to his leg.
