Kenshi sat in his last class of school waiting for the bell to ring and mark the end of class and the beginning of the weekend. He waited for this bell practically everyday for he was not fond of school. He sat holding his pen and looking busy while he sat and waited for the bell. Finally it rang and he exited the class along with his peers. He made a pass by his locker to throw in the books he didn't need. He walked through a long corridor to the front doors of the school. He walked past the area where the school buses were awaiting their passengers and made his way to his car. He put his sports bag with his books in the trunk and got in the driver's seat. He left the parking area and started driving down the road. When he reached the stadium parking lot, he turned around in it and started driving the other way as everyone else did who drove the "strip". As he approached the school again, he saw Leslie standing near where the buses were. He drove up beside her and rolled down his passenger window. Kenshi said, "Need a ride beautiful?" Leslie replied, "How could I refuse?" He picked up a few things from the passenger seat and threw them in the back to make a place for her to sit. After she was in the car, Kenshi merged back onto the road and started traveling the opposite direction from the school.
He reached an area near downtown where lots of people liked to park and talk to each other. Today he saw several people parked there and standing out of their cars. One of the people was a very large guy, whom Kenshi sensed to have powers. Kenshi pulled over behind some of the cars. Leslie was not certain of why he stopped but she didn't ask. Kenshi got out of the car and walked to where everyone was standing. He looked around and saw that no one appeared to be hurt. Then he looked at the large guy. He was wearing a large black trench coat that loosely covered most of his body and made it hard to judge his structure. Kenshi asked, "Who are you?" The guy replied, "I am Cain, and you must be Kenshi." Kenshi replied, "That's right, so why are you here?" Cain answered, "To see the legendary son of Bahamut of course. I am the son of Tiamut." "You came to fight, didn't you?" "Kenshi, you're more eager to fight than I expected. Alright, we can fight if you like but don't expect to beat me as you did all the others." Kenshi formed the hilt of his sword and gripped it with both hands. Then the orange blade formed. Cain watched and laughed slightly. Then he formed his hilt but the blade that formed from his was yellow. Kenshi kept an angry expression. Cain was still smiling and said, "Come Bahamut son. Let's see what you are capable of." Kenshi held the sword ready to attack and ran towards Cain who remained in his place. Kenshi swung his sword down at Cain's head. Cain blocked the swing with no apparent difficulty. Kenshi made another attack to the side. The attack was again blocked. Kenshi continued to attack while Cain blocked them all and never returned an attack. Then during the flurry of attacks, Cain said, "You're weaker than I hoped for Bahamut son. Now it's my turn to attack." With that, Cain blocked one final attack from Kenshi and attacked back for the first time. His sword cut through the air much faster than Kenshi's. Kenshi barely got his sword up in time for the block but he was knocked backwards onto the ground from the force. Cain laughed. Kenshi got up while Cain charged some type of white energy in his hands. Kenshi started running back towards Cain. Cain threw the ball of energy below Kenshi. It hit the ground just below Kenshi's feet and exploded, throwing him back near his car. Kenshi didn't get up this time. Leslie watched with a worried look. Cain looked at Leslie and then Kenshi and laughed loudly. "Kenshi, you disappoint me. You're not worthy of your reputation. But you are one of the stronger fighters I've faced. I'm going to let you live in hopes that someday we can have a better fight." Cain jumped in the air and started flying away to everyone's amazement.
Leslie ran to Kenshi who was still laying motionless on the ground. Kenshi turned his head and looked up at her. He clenched his fist and tried to get up. Leslie helped him get up and walk to the passenger door of his car. He said in a cold voice, "You're driving, let's go." Leslie sensed the anger behind his voice and didn't argue. They both got in the car and left from the group of people still watching. Kenshi was somewhat embarrassed and Leslie knew it so she hesitated to mention how she was a bit upset because he was the one who engaged the fight. She saw the glare in his eyes but finally dared to question him anyway. "Kenshi, why did you attack him?" Kenshi sat there not responding. There was another silence between the two. Finally she interrupted it again. "What did he do to deserve a fight?" Kenshi replied back in an angry tone, "He would've killed someone if I hadn't gotten there." Leslie almost shouted back, "You don't know that." Kenshi waved his fist between them and yelled, "How would you..." but stopped in the middle of his sentence when he saw her cower back fearfully. His angry expression changed to worry and sadness as he opened his fist and rested his hand on the console between them. He looked at her as she drove. "You don't think I would hurt you, do you?" "Kenshi, you saw someone else like you and ran to get in a fight with them when they weren't hurting anyone. You've killed all your opponents before yet he spared your life. Who's the good guy here?" Her voice was weak from fear that he would get even angrier but this was not the case. He stared at her blinking a few times and then turned his head to look out the window. Nothing else was said for the remainder of the trip.
Finally she stopped at a remote location on a small road away from civilization that was unknown to Kenshi who hadn't paid attention during the trip. He asked, "Why did you stop here?" After killing the car and getting out, she said back to him, "Come with me and I'll show you." He exited the car and followed her through a part of the woods. Then the trees opened up to a small area surrounding a pond. He followed her onto a dock that protruded over the water. Leslie spoke up. "This pond belongs to my uncle. I loved to come here when I was young." He changed the subject back to their previous conversation. "If I'm the bad guy, why do you still like me?" She hesitated for a moment. "I guess everyone has their flaws." She looked at Kenshi and continued. "You may not be perfect, but at least you try." Kenshi responded, "Yeah, I may have godly powers but I'm still a human." Leslie added, "Yeah, and full of imperfections." He looked at her with a bitter face and blinked. She responded to his expression, "Well I can't be the cause of you having an ego, can I?" They both laughed and continued to joke around. They went through the rest of the day happily and didn't go back to the events that happened earlier that day.
