The sounds of many horses running rang in the ears of the citizens of Bleadvik
as they ran toward the huge, rugged mountains to the west of town. Although
they, by far, outnumbered Kriltine's army, they were a lot less powerful.
Kriltine's army pushed on toward the mountains, and began to close on the
civilians fast. As they continued to trug along, Kriltine suddenly stopped.
"Armanbad! Wait!" he shouted. Armanbad slowed his horse down and turned toward
his leader. "What's wrong he asked?" "Nothing," Kriltine replied, "but I want
to finish something. Go ahead of me and take care of those weaklings. I'll
catch up with you later!" Armanbad nodded and began racing to the front of the
army. Kriltine turned his head back toward Bledavik and grinned evilly toward
the vacant city. "I must destroy anything that dares go against my will," he
replied. He turned his armored horse around and sped off back toward Bledavik.
He entered the city gates a few minutes later and dismounted his horse. He
began checking for any hiding citizens, just to be sure they all escaped. But,
of course, he wouldn't mind finishing off any survivors that were left in the
city. Kriltine lifted his right hand up and began charging up energy. "The
fate of this city is at the hands of the great Kriltine!" he shouted. He leaped
up in the air with all his might. "Say your prayers...IN HELL!!!" he shouted as
he let a huge discharge of blue energy down. The ball of energy roared straight
down into the heart of the city. The ball exploded with great force and
vaporized the city, leaving nothing but a graveyard of dirt and rubble.
Kriltine, of course, was unhurt. He smiled evilly and slowly made his way back
down to the ground. His horse, too, was unhurt, because it had a special type
of armor on that could nullify energy blasts with that great of magnitude.
Kriltine walked back and leaped on his horse. He then left the fallen city
gates to rejoin the assault of innocent civilians.
The huge explosion was seen and heard even as far away as where the Yggdrasil
was, which was about 3/4th of the way to Nisan. The crew could only watch in
horror. "Bledavik," Bart said quietly, "My precious city, destroyed." Tears
began to build up in his eyes as he walked toward the elevator in the back of
the bridge. He entered it and went down to the lower level to check on Fei's
condition. He entered the clinic room where Citan and Elly were sitting
quietly, looking at Fei's unconscious body. "How is he?" Bart asked. "Well,
his brain waves have been stabilized," Citan explained, "but there seems to be
something that is preventing Fei from regaining consciousness.." "Do you know
what's causing it?" Bart questioned. "The cause is still unknown," Citan
replied, "but whatever it is, it's doing a heck of a good job keeping him
unconscious." Bart sighed as he looked toward Elly, who was holding Fei's hand
and just staring down at him. The sand pirate approached the young women and
kneeled down beside her. "Listen," he said, "Fei will make it. I know he
will!" Elly looked up at Bart and sighed. "I hope your right," she replied
quietly, "I hope your right." Bart embraced her in his arms and hugged her.
"Master," Sigurd reported as he entered the clinic, "we have reached Nisan."
"Thank you," Bart replied. He stood up and walked toward the door. "Let's take
him to the cathedral in the center of town," he ordered, "we can get further
help there." Citan got up and with the help of the nurse and Elly, pushed Fei's
stretcher out of the Yggdrasil and towards the cathedral. The rest of the team
followed in close pursuit and making sure there was no soldiers watching them or
following them. "Why are we taking Fei to the cathedral?" Chu-Chu asked.
"Because Bart and them susepct an attack on Nisan from Kriltine's forces,"
Margie replied, and the cathedral is in the middle of town, so we may be safe
there." Fei was taken to an upstairs room in the cathedral, with Elly by his
side. The others decided to do a little site seeing while they were there.
"Hey Billy," Margie asked, "do you wanna see a picture of our religion's
founder, Mother Sophia?" Billy was delighted in this invitation. "I've always
wanted to see the famous portrate of her," he replied. Billy and Margie went
upstairs. Rico and Hammer went up toward the alter and looked around a bit.
Citan just walked around but eventually joined Elly upstairs with Fei. As
everyone began to settle in, Sigurd came running into the cathedral. "Master!!"
he shouted, "We have bad news!" Bart instantly ran up to Sigurd following Rico,
Hammer, Maria and Chu Chu. "What is it?" he asked. "Kriltine's forces have
intercepted the civilians," Sigurd explained. The five gasped in shock, knowing
very well that they would all be exterminated.
Kriltine's army finally reached the people, and the bloodshed began. "Alright
troops!" Kriltine shouted, "Make them suffer!!" Armanbad grappled people by the
feet and brought them to his face, making them beg for forgiveness and mercy.
The people who didn't went through slow, painful deaths as Armanbad would slit
their wrists and throats and would also cut off their arms, legs, hands, etc.
The people who did would get beaten to the point of death, would blood spilling
from their faces. No matter what, the civilians suffered greatly. People with
guns took them out and began firing on the soldiers, but were quickly caught and
made suffer by severe torture. People were shot in the pits of the stomach and
were left for dead. The west side of Ignas turned into a blood bath and a huge
graveyard and people who went through the most brutal of torture. From start to
finish, it only took about three hours. Decomposing bodies could be smelled
from as far north as Nisan and as far east as Dazil and Lahan. Kriltine
approached Armanbad with a satisfied look on his face. "You've done well and
will be rewarded greatly," he said. "I will do anything as you say, Master,"
Armanbad replied. "Great," Kriltine responded, "then you'll come with me along
with fifty gear units. I also would like the Starize called. We're going to
head north and destroy Nisan along with everyone there." "I will dispatch them
immediately," Armanbad announced. "Okay, then, order the army to stay put and
search for survivors or people in hiding. You, me and the gear untis will
finish off Fei and Elly once and for all!!! Whahahahahahaha!!!" Kriltine
ordered. Armanbad did as he was told and the fifty gear units were dispatched
from the Tower of Babel, on an intercept course with Kriltine and Armanbad, for
Nisan.
Fei, once again, appeared in his subconscious, along with Id, who was sitting
down. "Id, your back." Fei replied. "The time has come," he said as he stood
up. "The time for what?" Fei asked as he approached Id. Id looked over at Fei.
"It's time for you and me to become two separate people," he explained, "It's
time for you and me to split." "Why?" Fei demanded. Id just looked at him with
a blank stare. "I can help you defeat Kriltine and his men." Id responded. "No
way!" Fei shouted, "Not after the trouble you caused last time! You almost
killed Elly, for a cry in out loud! I won't let you separate!" "You have no
choice!" Id declared, "If I am free, we may have a fighting chance against
Kriltine! Remember, Fei, I, too, have the same power you possess. At the
moment, you guys need another really strong person like me to help out." "I can
handle it myself, thank you!" Fei said, "The main reason you want to become one
is to try to destroy the world! Who knows, you may even join Kriltine!" Id
became furious. "You really think I would bow down and join an asshole like
Kriltine!?!!?" he shouted. Fei shouted back. "The way you are, it could
happen!!" "It could, but it won't," Id remarked. "I still won't allow it!" Fei
shouted. Id turned his back toward Fei. "I can hear it now," he explained,
"the screams of those innocent people who will be brutally killed if I don't
become one. I can hear all of your friends, screaming in pain as Kriltine
tortures them. Bart, Citan, Rico, Billy, Maria, Margie, the crew of your
precious Yggdrasil and, yes, even Elly." "Stop it!" Fei demanded, "Stop it
right now!" Id turned back to his alter ego. "We can prevent this, Fei," he
said, "We can save the planet. I understand you and your friends will be
reluctant at first, but trust me, when we fight that jackass in Nisan, they'll
change their minds." Fei was still reluctant but then realized that Id was
right. He would be a big help in the fight, but the past still made Fei very
reluctant. "Alright Id," he said, "You and I will become separate people, BUT,
if you even think of back stabbing us, I will personally take care of you!"
"You have my word," Id replied. "Then let's separate!" Fei shouted. Id and Fei
soon began to glow green and both of them disappeared from the subconscious.
Word of the huge massacre struck fear in the hearts of the Xenogears team as
they sat in the cathedral, wondering what would come next. "Any survivors?"
Rico asked. "The scouts team has reported that Kriltine's main army is still in
the area," Sigurd replied, "We won't know for sure until they clear out."
Franz, the Yggdrasil's helmsman, ran into the cathedral. "Sigurd!" he shouted,
"Radar has picked up an army of gears heading for Nisan!" "How long until they
arrive?" Maria asked. "Two hours!" Franz shouted. "It must be Kriltine!" Billy
declared. "If that's the case, then we must prepare for the worst." Citan said.
"Everyone, call your gears!" Bart ordered, "this is gonna get messy!" The team
ran back to the Yggdrasil and called all of their gears from a control panel on
the bridge.
In a cave south of Ignas, Emeralda was shining up her powerful gear, Crescens.
Because she didn't know that the Zohar Modifier had been reactivated, she had
put it in a huge storage area near the cave. She would go there daily and shine
it up and sometimes would just stare at it and think of all of the good memories
she had with Fei and her friends on their adventures long ago. She would spend
the rest of the time reading up on the history of the planet for the last 10,000
years, for she was created by humans. She went on polishing her gear when she
heard a voice. She looked around and saw nobody. She turned back and continued
to polish her gear. She heard the voice again. "Hello?" Emeralda asked. No
one answered. She was becoming frustrated. Again, the voice was heard. "Who's
there?" she demanded. She then looked inside her gear and saw a faint
transmission coming in. She climbed in and began clearing up the static. She
finally succeed and a pretty women came on. "Who are you?" she asked. The
women smiled and said, "Don't you remember me?" she asked. Emeralda shook her
head no. "I am the one you and Elly saved back in that mission when Solaris
attacked Nisan." she replied. Emeralda's mind became clear now. She remembered
this nice lady, who she and Elly had saved when Ft. Hurricane almost destroyed
Nisan. "What do you want?" she asked. "Your friend, Fei, is in trouble and
needs your help. An evil madman is out to kill him and Elly." Emeralda gasped
in shock. "Where is Fei's Kim?" she demanded. "He's in Nisan along with the
rest of the crew," the women replied, "and they could use your help because an
army of gears are approaching the city as we speak!" "Gears?" Emeralda asked in
surprise, "Gears aren't supposed to run anymore. That thing was shut down and
it made them stop working." "Don't you know?" the women asked. "Know what?"
Emeralda asked back. "The Zohar Modifier was reactivated six years ago," the
women explained, "your gear works again. Please, we need your help!" "How long
until they try to hurt Fei's Kim?" Emeralda demanded. "We have about an hour
before they arrived," the women answered. "I'm coming to help!" Emeralda
declared as she turned off the transmitter. Emeralda was still skeptical about
her gear running again but she attempted to start it up anyway. To her
surprise, her gear, Crescens, was up and running again. Emeralda cheered but
then began to remember what she had to do. "No one hurts Fei's Kim and gets
away with it!" she shouted. Crescens took off toward the north, heading for
Nisan, along with Kriltine's Super Omnigear, Starize, Armanbad, and his army of
fifty powerful Omnigears. Can Fei and the others defeat Kriltine and save
Nisan? And can Emeralda reach Nisan in time to help her respected comrades?
