Intoxication

Carrot

Bumpy was intoxicated to say the least. It had got to the point where the bartender had given up asking if he had had enough and simply raised a dubious eyebrow when he asked for another.

The Deep End had become somewhat depressing, and the "liquor", if you could call it that, equally so. The Ghost left the bar and headed up to the vehicle bay. It was a rather peculiar route, for every now and then he would completely and utterly forget where he was trying to get to. He finally arrived in the bay an hour later.

The vehicle bay seemed huge and he was baffled as to how he had ever managed to navigate it on previous occasions. Fortunately a nice big point of reference provided itself in the form of his Gorgon. Failing to understand the use of a ladder, a blast-cannon seemed to act perfectly well as not only a handhold, but also an entertaining monkey-bar. Hitting the external controls seemed effective enough in popping the hatch. That was about the time that he lost consciousness.

He woke up a few hours later to the sight of Razorback sat on the Gorgon’s nose.

"Hey Razor."

"Few too many last night?"

"Probabobably. Sad night last night. Anniversary of the death of an old friend."

"I’ll bet. You gonna be okay?"

"Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll just sit here until my legs feel capable of walking again."

With that Razorback was satisfied and left.

"Hey Xena, you seen our Trojan Horse? He was supposed to be scanning something for me with those thermal sensors of his." Icey said as she entered ops.

"Yes, he is in the vehicle bay, nursing a... hangover."

Icey’s eyebrow lifted into his hairline as he grinned from ear to ear, "I see. Icey to Carrot."

No response emitted from the comm system. He tried a second time and then called up a status check on his whereabouts.

"He’s not in sensor or comm range."

"He probably needs some time to himself. He was commiserating last night."

"I see."

A little space to clear his head was all he needed, get away from the ceilings and walls of Fantasma. Perhaps he’d check out the old hangout, never been there before.

He was just setting a course when a bleep emitted from his radar. He looked on the screen and noticed at once the incoming signals.

"Carrot to Fantasma, I have incoming signals. If you hear this then respond, please." No use, he was out of range.

The beeping from his radar rose in volume as the signals closed in on him. He would fight, but he could not win.
