Hell Hath No Fury
Delithita
I stood just outside the view of the comm-system as Maria closed the line to the Antipode Mining Guild. My face blank. My mind a turmoil of emotions. Maria put her head into her hands and started crying a bit.
The AMG was mining in a soft-pack basin not too far from Fantasma. However, the basin had a sentimental significance to us two women. This basin had a ridge upon which stood an assorted pile of scrap Cybrid vehicles in a 'totem' of sorts. This was Maria's effigy that she had erected shortly after the Starsiege had started. I had contributed to this 'scarecrow' a few times. For inside this basin, lay the dead of Mercury. Every body that the Ghosts had discovered, was buried here, with the exception of the most recent deaths. For while Maria was called away to Io, I had been forced to cede the basin to the Cybrids. We just did not have the skill to keep it clear without Maria's trusty Apoc to assist us. Then the AMG moved in with hordes of HERCs and tanks to fend off the Cybrids. And started digging up the graves. Even the Cybrids knew not to violate the dirt beneath their metallic hooves. For they knew the dire fate that would befall them should they truly anger the Antipode defenders. The AMG merely laughed at Maria's face as she beseeched them to cease operations. In the name of Christ and Hunter she had declared. "Please stop!" Maria never said please.
I walked over and put my hand on Maria's shoulder. She looked up. Tears running down her face. But the look in her eyes said a million things. All of them with but one translation. "Vengeance."

"Xenogears. You come with Del and me. The rest of you Ghosts. Make sure the enemy HERCs keep their heads down. Razorback is in the Banshee so paint him some targets. Maria out."
The three women parked their HERCs just outside the main compound and exited their HERCs and entered the base.
All hell was about to break loose. And the Ghosts relished it. Vengeance was at hand.
