General
The mighty Promethean power armoured battle-suits (PABS) are incredibly potent sets of combat armour designed by the Machine Gods to protect the citizens of Prometheus in battle. They are the most powerful ground armour available and are only rivalled for capability by the famed Ikarean winged battle-suits and certain expensive suits of custom built Hydran carapace armour. Unlike Ikarean battle-suits, Promethean PABS have had their design fixed by the Machine Gods and so may not be modified or changed by mortals. PABS are large, bulky and heavily armoured suits that stand over 2.5m tall and weigh nearly 500kg. As such they suffer a –4 DRM to all “Stealth” rolls and if they are disabled or run out of power then they are immobile. They also require a neuro-jack in order to interface with the wearer. PABS run on banks of 100 DPC giving them a month of operation without re-charge.
Basic Model PABS
The basic, or export, model of PABS is sold by Prometheus to its citizens for private use and in very limited quantities to Janusian merchants. It has none of the advanced systems found in Promethean Mil Spec models, having only the basic armoured frame and being fitted with only simple communications and environmental protection systems. Still, even this makes it a force to be reckoned with. Additional cybernetic systems could be added to the suit but this is a “Difficult” task using the “Mek” skill limited by the characters “Robomancy” skill. The number of previously added cybernetic systems also acts as a negative DRM to this skill roll. Only the Machine Gods have the knowledge to design or modify such battle-suits without complication. The basic PABS model has the following profile:

Psi Shield Level 9 Communicator – non-secure radio communications over a broad band of frequencies at ranges less than 10km. Environmental Protection – Sealed suit giving complete immunity to all biohazards including atomic radiation, poisons and toxic chemicals. It also protects against extremes of heat, cold and fire. The suit has breathing filters and a renewable 3-hour supply of oxygen and will operate under water. |
Mil Spec Battle-suits
These PABS are specially designed by the Machine Gods for Promethean Legionnaires and are for Prom Mil use only. They are never sold to outsiders and include a self-destruct system to prevent their loss or capture. This system is linked to the life readings of the wearer but can be manually activated if needed. Mil Spec PABS use the same frame as the export model but include a greater array of sophisticated combat systems. Unless specifically noted, all weapon fits use the “Weapon Implant” skill to attack. All hand weapons issued are “smart weapons” that can be plugged into the suit and so also use the “Weapon Implant” skill to attack. Currently identified Mil Spec PABS are detailed below.
Infantry Model: This is the standard PABS issued to Cyber-legion soldiers. It is equipped with a field visor that provides a HUD linked to the suits head cams and biosensor. The head cams have an IRIS capability while the biosensor is capable of detecting life energy up to 100m. The suits aural filters render the wearer immune to sound based attacks and can be set to filter and isolate different wavelengths of sound. The PABS communications system is upgraded to the secure Mil-com net and provides secure communications between Legionnaires. The suit has no built in weaponry but each Legionnaire is armed with a Blaster rifle mounting a fully fitted ISU and carries a chain-sword for close combat. One Legionnaire in each four-man fire team will be armed with a Heavy Blaster and fully fitted ISU.
Assault Model: This is a slightly larger version of the Infantry model and has heavy weapon hard points located on the shoulders as well as further weapon hard points on the forearms. The shoulder mounts allow for the weapon to be retracted down on the back of the armour. These are used for mounting heavy support weapons and other specialist weapons for assault use. Common fits include one or two missile launchers on the shoulder mounts and a mini-flamer on one of the forearms. Legionnaires using this armour are usually armed with heavy Blasters complete with ISU. An option is to swap one missile launcher for a Mega-blaster. Along with the standard Infantry model systems, this PABS includes a targeting system for its weapon fits that grants +1 DRM to shooting rolls. Assault model PABS are usually issued to complete fire teams.
Scout / Sniper Model: These are specialised suits issued to Legionnaire scout teams and snipers. They have sophisticated sensor arrays and are extensively modified for stealth, eliminating the usual PABS penalty for “Stealth” checks. As a consequence of this, they are more lightly armoured and only have AR: 8. The suit has an inertial navigation system as well as a locator compass that accurately indicates the wearer’s location from a pre-programmed point. In addition to the capabilities of the standard Infantry suit, this model’s head cams have telescopic and UV capability as well as broad spectrum scanning which grants a +4DRM to all “Sight” perception rolls. It’s sensor package also includes aural receptors that can hear a low whisper up to 100m away and grant +2 to all “Hearing” perception checks. Snipers will be equipped with a Rail-gun and ISU and their PABS will include a targeting system for this weapon that grants +1 DRM to shooting rolls. Scout teams generally carry Shredders with ISU for plenty of quiet, close range firepower. Both scouts and snipers often carry a Cam-cloak to drape over their armour to aid concealment.
Commander Model: A more advanced model of the Infantry suit issued to field commanders at all levels. This has all the standard Infantry models capabilities but has an improved ER of ER: 8. The suit’s head cams also have UV and telescopic capabilities and it has the same navigational system as the Scout/Sniper model. To assist in command the PABS includes a voice amplifier that allows the commander’s voice to be heard over the loudest background noise out to 500m. As Legionnaire officers may have to interact with foreigners, the suit also includes a universal translator. Legionnaire commanders are usually armed with a Blaster rifle and ISU and carry a Force Sword as a badge of rank as well as a close combat weapon.
Kommando Model: Kommando models are issued to highly trained and experienced Legionnaires for the conduct of special operations in isolated and high-risk environments. These suit are fully optimised version of the basic Infantry model and include all its normal capabilities as well as many sophisticated systems not found on other suits. Kommando suits have the same advanced navigation systems and sensor arrays as the scout/sniper model, with the suit’s head cams being further upgraded to include Alpha wave and Energy scanning capabilities. These allow the wearer to see through solid objects such as walls and rock up to 50cm thick and to spot wave fronts of psychic energy, see invisible Psi-demons, or even tell if one possesses someone. Kommando suits also have an improved ER of ER: 8 and include a universal translator. These PABS come in two main versions, the “Infiltrator” and the “Stormtrooper”.
The “Infiltrator” version of the Kommando model is optimised for stealth and has a reduced AR of AR: 8, however advanced stealth technology has given it a +2 DRM to “Stealth” rolls. To further enhance its mobility they are also equipped with suspensor pads and suspensor belts, allowing them to walk on sand, snow or even water without leaving a trace, and to jump up to 20 times further than normal. These suits also have a built in set of retractable, ultra-strong claws (inflict 2M damage) and have weapon hard points on both forearms. It is usual to fit a Grapnel gun and Blaster to the forearm hard points. Soldiers using these suits will carry any hand weapon suitable to the mission.
The “Stormtrooper” version of the Kommando model is optimised for raiding and assaults. It has the full AR: 10 but highly advance stealth technology has reduced the PABS “Stealth” penalty to –2 DRM. These suits have a power gauntlet (2M+2 damage) built onto one arm and weapon hard points on both shoulders and the other forearm. Targeting systems are included for these weapon hard points and grant a +1 DRM to shooting rolls. The standard weapon fit for these suits is a missile launcher on each shoulder and a grapnel gun on the forearm while the Legionnaire will carry a Heavy Blaster and ISU as a hand weapon. Force blades are also available as a hand weapon option. This version of the Kommando model is highly favoured for raids on Swarm hives.
