Bloodline
Battlesuit Configurations
by
Colin Chapman
While the lesser nobles of Ikarus are restricted to the standard battlesuits and any personal modifications they can afford, the Phoenix, Gryphon and Wyvern bloodlines all possess battlesuits that have unusual modifications to which they hold all rights. In addition, even their most basic suits feature a few standard modifications (primarily cosmetic), as such lofty nobles would rather die than wear the basic battlesuits that lesser nobles have access to. Anyone found using or copying the unique modifications these great families hold is subject to prolonged and excruciating public torture and death. Needless to say, these are the bloodline's "basic" battlesuits, and individuals often modify them even further. Cost for the unique modifications are not provided as they are already figured into the basic battlesuit's statistics.
Gryphon Battlesuits
Gryphon Sonic Cannon
The sonic cannon used in Gryphon battlesuits resembles the roar of some huge and majestic beast, and can be heard up to a kilometer away. Anyone within 10 meters who does not have aural protection (such as Aural Filters) is rendered temporarily deaf in the next combat round and is startled so much that they suffer a -d6 penalty on all their actions during their next action phase. The penalties from this weapon are not cumulative; in cases where several Gryphon warriors use their cannon in the same area, only the largest penalty is applied. Needless to say, this still means that Gryphon unit attacks can be particularly devastating. OD: 1.
Phoenix Plasma Halo Projector
This complicated system of plasma emitters and magnetic stabilisers runs throughout a Phoenix battlesuit, and when activated engulfs the armor in a form-hugging cocoon of heated plasma. This field ignites any flammable material it comes into contact with instantly, and adds d6 damage to any unarmed or wingblade attacks the wearer makes. In addition, anyone who makes an unarmed attack on the battlesuit while the field is engaged automatically takes d6 damage for every strike (and their clothing will probably ignite). OD: 2.
Wyvern Battlesuits
Wyvern Stealth System
The Wyvern stealth system renders the battlesuit all but invisible to the naked human eye in the dark (-3 penalty to spot this battlesuit in usch conditions), and prevents radar, thermal and energy detection apparatus from "seeing" it. This includes nearly all missile and rocket guidance systems, making it difficult for such weapons to achieve a true lock on a Wyvern battlesuit (they sufer a -6 to hit penalty). The system involves resculpting the battlesuit, giving it an unusual "angled" appearance, covering it in a secret matte black coating, and fitting a low-emission, baffled gravatic drive. Speed enhancing modifications ruin the battlesuit's stealth modifications.
Wyvern's Sting
The Wyvern's Sting consists of a retractable duralloy "talon" that slides out of the battlesuit's right forearm, and can inject a dose of poison when it strikes. A dispenser in the forearm can hold up to 6 doses of any drugs or poisons, although these must be purchased seperately. The drugs/poisons are held in individual units, enabling the user to select between those he has available (up to 6 different ones). The razor-sharp hollow adamantium talon inflicts 1M+1 damage (exoskeleton ST is already included), and any successful hit that inflicts damage also inects a single dose of the chosen drug/poison.
