And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes;
and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Attunements: Malakite of Creation, Malakite of Purity, Kyriotate of Creation, Dreamwalking, Unshakable Resolve, Last Spark
Unique Attunement: Azlan may, with a successful Perception roll, sense whether an individual is an Ethereal being or not. Servitors of the Dragon Court may purchase this attunement for 10 character points.
Unique Rite: Azlan earns 3 Essence for each group of Ethereal spirits he allows to enter the Corporeal realm, if they are willing to obey the dictates of the Seraphim Council. He may grant this rite to his Servitors.
Dissonance Condition: No Servitor of the Dragon Court may allow Ethereal spirits to exist in the Corporeal realm if they are unwilling to obey the conditions set by the Seraphim Council. Once such a spirit is discovered the angel must convince the spirit to obey those conditions, or attempt to drive it from the Corporeal realm. Failure to do so earns the angel a note of dissonance.
Appearance: Azlan's corporeal form is known as Horatio. Horatio is a dark-skinned man with black hair and intense, green eyes, who appears to be in his mid-twenties. Though handsome enough, Horatio has an air of darkness about him, like that of a man who has seen too much. On the other hand, Azlan's celestial form is rather more distinctive. He looks like a hole in space, cut through into an unlit place and carved in the shape of a six-winged humanoid. Outlining this shape is pure whie flames , which burn constantly. The only feature that shows in Azlan's form is his eyes, which burn with the same fire that shrouds his body. When manifested, Azlan's sword Bishmiallah greatly resembles it's wielder; it is a dark shape, with a blade burning with the same divine fire which surrounds it's wielder.
Near the Beginning, there was Arastiel, Seraph of Purity. Sworn to the service of the Archangel Uriel, he came into being before the Fall, before Heaven had been scarred by betrayal. Beside his duty, there was only one thing in Arastiel's life. That was Amiranda, a fellow Seraph devoted to the service of the Archangel of Light, Lucifer.
When the Fall came, Arastiel remained loyal to Uriel, and he fought the renegades with all the power at his disposal. Amiranda, the love of his life, followed her Archangel. Although Arastiel loved her more than his own life, he could not betray God.
In the final days of the War in Heaven, grief and sorrow weighed heavily on Arastiel. He called upon God, seeking guidance in that darkest of hours. Arastiel asked that if this War was the right way, then would God help him to shoulder his sorrow and do God's will. In that moment, Arastiel was transfigured. His glorious form changed, turning black as an unlit night, whild the pure flames that burned around him turned white, crackling with divine power and the strength of his faith. At the last, Arastiel felt a piece of himself seperated, transforming into a living blade to aid him in his new duties. From that point on, arastiel was no more. He put aside what he had been and became Azlan, the Lion of God.
When Azlan returned to his Archangel, he found that he was not the only one to change. A new Choir had been crreated to guard the Gates of Heaven. The Malakim, united behind Uriel and David, descended on the rebels. But even they were not enough. The new Choir fought hard, and sustained many casualties. But as things seemed darkest for Heaven, a new theme was heard in the Symphony. The Host of War, led by Michael himself, entered the conflict. Led by Uriel and David, the Malakim rallied to the new theme and the rebels were defeated and cast out.
Though victorious, many of Heaven's angels bore scars. Azlan was no exception. He left Heaven to work on the newly formend Earth in Heaven's service, where he might be able to forget the War and his loss. Attempting to catalog everything that Azlan did on Earth would be like trying to move an ocean with an eyedropper. Azlan has been involved in every major conflict of the War, including the battle with Legion.
During his time on Earth, Azlan and a few of his allies became involved with a number of Earth's Ethereals, most notably the Great Dragon Staalax, who became both ally and friend. Others disapproved of such friendship, saying that they treated Dragons and other Ethereals like royalty, and calling them the "Dragon Court". Azlan cared not. He saw value in the Ethereals, and in the uninvolved advice that Staalax gave.
Then came the Purification Crusade. At first, the Crusade focused only on the Ethereal "gods", something that Azlan could support wholeheartedly. But as the Crusade progressed it turned on all Ethereals, even those who had been allies of Heaven. Azlan tried to reason with Uriel. His time with the Archangel and his loyal service had earned Azlan high rank, and he hoped that Uriel would hear him out. At first, it seemed that Uriel might listen, but it proved useless. In the end, Azlan turned against Uriel rather than see a third of creation destroyed or driven away.
It was Staalax's death that pushed Azlan over the edge. He heard of the battle after the fact and, though her killers had paid the ultimate price, Azlan felt the loss deeply. When Azlan learned that a contingent of Malakim had been dispatched to Staalax's lair to search for more dragons, he acted. He knew that Staalax ahd just laid a clutch of eggs, and he would not let them die. While his allies removed the eggs to a place of safety, Azlan confronted Uriel's Servitors to delay them. The confrontation escalated into conflict in minutes. Azlan left his opponents devastated, but he knew he was in trouble.
By the time Azlan was captured by the Servitors of Judgement, the Crusade was winding down. Because of the multitude of factors involved (including, it is rumored, an appeal by Uriel himself), Azlan was not destroyed for his actions. He was stripped of half his Forces and released to try and find an Archangel who would accept him. Eventually, Azlan found an Archangel whose methods suited Azlan's growing independent streak. Eli welcomed Azlan into his service and sent him back to Earth to, in Eli's own words "cause some trouble".
Azlan certainly fulfilled that directive. Besides attempting to become the personal scourge of every demon on Earth, Azlan began to plan. After laying low for almost 500 years, Azlan started contacting his old allies. They re-organized the Dragon Court, united under the goal of returning the Ethereals to Earth in defiance of the ban. They worked for many years, with Azlan as their nominal head, as they released a number of Ethereal beings on Earth. Slowly Dominic became aware of this new Dragon Court. But, try as he might, they hid their tracks well enough to evade his Servitors.
In the modern day, Azlan finally made his move. With the return of Uriel from the higher Heavens, the Dragon Court couldn't wait any longer. Azlan went before the Seraphim Council to argue that the ban against the Ethereals be lifted. His gamble nearly cost him everythig, but the turmoil his words caused grew so loud that God intervened. Azlan was chastised for his defiance of the Council, but in the end he was given a chance. He was given the Word of the Dragon Court by Divine decree, tying his existance to the careful management of the Ethereals he allowed to come to the Corporeal realm.
This is his last chance.
Azlan has thrown himself into his duties wholeheartedly, but he still has another goal. In the Hall Azlan has created to house the Court, there is a room which lies unoccupied. It is a room created for Amiranda. After all this time, Azlan still loves her, and he prays that she will return someday...
