HISTORY

Ptanu comes the village of Lost Scale and forms part of the elite unit of pterrans that roam the skies, the Wind Riders. He was born into Lost Scale and has been taken care of by the village. His loyalty is first to the Earth Mother that brought him to life. He then identifies himself with his race and then his village. Since he was a small lizard, he has always gone to the outskirts of town where the pterraxes’ pens were and waited for the Wind Riders to come back. His strong Will and natural command of the Way allowed him to spot them from far away and thus was able to enjoy them for quite a bit longer then the rest. He could always be seen squatting on the ground and looking to the skies where apparently there was nothing to look at. Sure enough, in due time a pterrax and rider would soon fill the empty spot and glide back to the ground.

He was quickly taken by the Skyriders as an apprentice and taught to care for the pterrax. He would feed them and take care of them; he soon learned to love them. He was accepted to go to the wild pterraxes’ breeding grounds to find his mount at a young age and almost died when he scaled the mountains. He found a very young female pterrax whom he cared for longer than usual. The wounded animal was nurtured back to health and developed into a great mount. He recently was out into his first solo trip with his mount and participated in a battle with kreens where unfortunately he has seen two of his four companions die. He has befriended the elven tribe that runs north in the Hinterlands. He is very concerned about the kreen threat from the North.

He is now a full-fledged member of the Sky Riders. This military unit patrols the skies and is an important of the villages defenses.

APPEARANCE

Ptanu is a dark green skinned humanoid. His tough but pliable hide acts as natural deterrent for slashing and piercing weapons but still show his hard muscles. He is 5’7" and weighs in at about 150 lbs. He is strangely quick and agile for his race. His yellow reptile eyes close to a slit in the full day’s light.

He wears hide chest armor which is decorated with a pair of giant featherless wings, the symbol of the Skyriders. He wears long breeches and a pair of bracers. He carries his obsidian edge glaive guisarme strapped to his mount’s saddle, as well as his bone carrikal. He carries his bone dirk on his waist held up by a leather belt. He carries a five gallon water bladder which he fills up at the beginning of any trip.

PERSONALITY

Ptanu has a deep respect for his pterrax mount Lorna and is almost in love with the animal. He will not endanger her for any reason but has been trained and will not hesitate to fight if necessary. His relationship with his mount is helped by the fact that Lorna mindlinks with him frequently.

Like all pterrans, he has a deep respect for the Earth Mother. He has been told how there are people who "defile" the land and has been appalled at this notion. He has bowed to put an end to this practice.

He is very naïve about the ways of the people East of the great mountains but is naturally friendly to strangers.

He is very skilled in leatherworking and is always improving his saddle and accessories.

He has asked permission to his elders and the Skyriders to travel abroad and they have approved due to the new winds of change that are blowing through the Hinterlands. He wants to rise through the ranks of the Skyriders and for that has to contribute to the order significantly; he is thus looking for such an opportunity.

He is very weary of kreens in general since he has made his first impression fighting the thor kreens.
