Current Projects
The rowboat project represents the first chapter in the book Fine Art Photoshop by Michael J. Nolan and Renee LeWinter.
The image is intended to represent a pencil sketch. The lesson begins by showing how to mark a photograph into grids and transfer it to the photoshop canvas. Lines are laid with the line and pencil tools. A "palette" of crosshatch pencil strokes is then created, and the stamp tool is used to fill areas of the boat with the marks, with attention to opacity and direction. Dodge and Burn are used to darken and lighten areas.
The sketch will be used later in the book to produce a watercolor.
