- Panel 1: For some reason, this issue has a title page. The Books of Faerie: Molly's Story, also released in September of 1999, has one of these too. The page lists this quote: "'Who rides the wind must go where their steed will take them.' --Queen Titania of Faerie" and the following synopsis of the series:
Once, a seeming eternity ago, four mystics showed Timothy Hunter they ways of magic. Over time, the teenager came to know that he was an Opener, blessed with the ability to travel between the realms and to create new worlds.
But magic exacts it's price, and now Tim's family is gone- swept away by the attack of the Other, the adversary every Opener must face. Bereft of his magic, his very place on Earth taken by the Other, Tim must find his own way for the first time in his life.
Tim's childhood is over...but new worlds are about to open for the young mage, and new threats with them...

- Panel 1: In The Wizard of Oz, the main character, Dorothy (see Panel 2), has a dog named Toto, to whom she says "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." Tim is fond of the movie; during the Rites of passage storyline he referred to his knapsack as "Toto."
As for Panel 3, Dorothy and her companions followed a yellow brick road on their journey to meet the Wizard.
