- Panel 6: This is yet another in the continuing series of t-shirts with stars on them in assorted colors. Past shirts have been blue with a gold star and green with a white/silver star.
on April 21, 1999, Peter Gross told us (in response to Greg Lam's question) that the star on Tim's shirt is not a reference to Bone.

- Panel 3: This is the third or fourth appearance in the last two issues of Bill and Holly's wedding photo.
- Panel 5: Tim is telling the truth, since it was OtherTim that was at the accident.
- Panel 8: Doctor Hangover was last seen in Issue 56 as one of the refugees living in Molly's new basement. Evidently Tim has use for him after the first accident.
- Panel 9: The lie that Bill is referring to is in Panel 5, where Tim denies having been at the accident, except that it isn't a lie.

- Panel 3: 999 is the emergency number (like 911) in England.
- Panel 8: Finally we're given a vague date for the car crash that killed Mary Hunter; six years ago. That would have made Tim about 8.

- Panel 8: DHSS is the Department of Health and Social Services.

- Panel 2: May I draw your attention to the "#1 Dad" mug. Poor Tim.
