SAMPLE VOIGT-KAMPFF TEST QUESTIONS FOR THE
DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF
ELECTRIC SHEEP? TRIBUTE
Here are a few questions from the Voigt-Kampff Test. You can resolve all tests purely with dice rolls, or you can use these questions to aid in role-playing the test session. It's up to you. Remember, subjects taking the test are supposed to indicate their reactions to these situations. The machine records their physiological responses, and the hunter giving the test notes their verbal and emotional responses, and interprets the results.
(In no particular order):
1. (Smile with pride and stroke briefcase during question) Do you like my briefcase? It's department issue. (Wait for response, then broaden smile) Babyhide. 100% human babyhide.
2. While visiting relatives who live in the country, you go for a walk. While walking you come across your thirteen-year-old nephew sitting alone in a meadow. When you approach, you realize that the boy is vivisecting a squirrel with his pocketknife. He is laughing out loud at the animal's screams.
3. You are invited to the home of an important business client for the first time. Keeping this client's business is vital to your career, to the very survival of your company. When you enter the living room, the client informs you with pride that the lampshades and the sofa covering are all made from the skin of his deceased ancestors. He says it keeps him "in touch with his past."
4. You are standing at a tube station. There are workers doing some minor maintenance to one of the tracks. Suddenly a train that had got its switching wrong roars onto the track the workers are repairing. The train comes to a stop, but it can't do it in time. All of the workers leap to safety except one. This man is struck by the train and pinned between a train car and the wall of the tube. His spine has been twisted 180 degrees, but he is alive, conscious, and alert. He claims not to be in pain, but everyone there knows that as soon as the train backs up to free him, he will die instantly. The worker is in shock and doesn't realize the gravity of his situation. He smiles at you and calmly asks you to grab his arm and help to pull him free when the train backs up. He tells you that if you do, he'll buy you a drink as soon as he's free.
5. An elderly man stumbles into the convenience store where you've stopped to buy some stuffers. He is acting as though in a daze. There is blood on his shirt, but he does not appear to be physically wounded. The man looks at you and the clerk and tells you that while trying to stop a purse snatcher, he missed and shot to death his wife of forty-two years. He tells you that the mugger actually thanked him for getting her to stop struggling, then ran off with her purse anyway.
