Bart shot up straight in the bed. He couldn't remember if he had yelled or not but, his own screams from the dream still reverberated in his mind. He swept the wild brown hair from his face with one hand and looked around the room. His mouth was dry and his throat felt scratchy. He pulled the blanket off of his left leg.
"Damn." he hoarsely said as he saw the cast covering the majority of his leg.
Looking around again, he noticed a Styrofoam cup of water by the bedside. He took several small drinks and soon finished the glass.
"Ok, Bart," he said quietly to himself. "I remember going with Nyra and Fae to take on Godd. Seemed like a simple enough plan. All I had to do was grab Fae and get to safety while Nyra kicked ass." Bart sighed heavily. "I did a great job on my end. I don't remember too much after he dropped me. Nyra won. I think that Godd's dead. Don't think we'd be alive otherwise. Fae pulled all of us together and we were still hugging when we were teleported back to Angel's Haven. What happened next? Lots of rushing around. I think. Most of it was on my account? My leg hurt so much! I remember that. Don't think I'll ever forget that. I've never been hurt like this before before. I've barely even been tagged before. Even in training. Guess I was too cocky. I really thought that I was untouchable. Fastest thing alive." Bart scoffed. "Yeah. Right. I can move faster then anything but, I'm about as bright as a dead bulb."
"Good to see you're finally up and around." came an all too cheery voice.
"Great. Hospital." he mumbled.
"Pardon?"
"Nothing." he said shaking his head. "Still kinda waking up."
She nodded and went about checking things. Bart rubbed his eyes.
"I hate these things." he said.
"Excuse me?" the nurse asked.
"My contacts. Bugging me."
Bart grimaced as the nurse patted his head her way out. Then he removed the bothersome lenses, revealing the amber colored eyes formerly hidden behind the brown contacts.
"Dunno why I still wear these stupid things. Helen made me at first so I would blend in better with the other 'normal' kids she wanted me to be like. Just like the stupid bus. I think she just liked torturing me." he sighed. "I know she meant well. Just wish she would of let me be me. Maybe I wouldn't of gotten in so much trouble."
Bart picked up the remote and turned on the television. The site he was greeted with shocked him and sent the remote falling to the floor, the batteries exploding out on contact.
"No." he said quietly. The TV showing amateur footage of Cloud City crashing into the castle. The reporter rattled on about things but, Bart didn't hear them. His eyes were transfixed on the horrific image on the tiny screen. Seconds that seemed like hours went by and Bart threw the sheet off of himself, ready to run to the castle, when he was greeted by a harsh reminder. "Damn." he said quietly again falling back onto the pillow. "This sucks!"
