Shattered Life

Act 1

Life.

By many it's taken for granted.

Never fully appreciated until it's lost.

Christopher St. John had almost the perfect life. He had a job that he

really liked and made him feel important. He had the love of his beautiful

wife, Cindy as well as his son Jason. Some may even go as far as to say, he

had the perfect life. What more could the man have asked for?

He never took the time to really look back at his life and realize how

lucky he actually was. That is, until, the day it was all taken from him.

"Noooo!!" Sobbed the man as he kneeled in the remains of what was once his

home. Everything he loved and worked for had been taken from him, in the

wink of an eye. His home, his son, his wife. All of it destroyed in one

explosion. Shattering his life and, leaving Christopher St. John an empty

man. What reason had he to go? They took everything from him. He cursed out

loud and slammed his fists into the charred remains of his home.

"CAW!" rang a sound from what remained of the roof. A black bird peered in

and stared down at St. John. He looked at the bird and it cawed again.

Both their eyes met.

"CAW!"

'Did the bird speak to me?'

"CAW!"

'It did.'

"REVENGE." spoke the bird although, only St. John understood the word. To

any prying ears, it would sound like a normal crow's cry.

'Yes! Revenge! They will pay." The man said as he stalked to where once

had been his bedroom. Although everything seemed destroyed, he found some

clothing, burnt but, it suited his needs. A shirt and pair of pants, black

as night. A shattered mirror sat in the corner. The man walked over to it

and glared at himself. Then, pulling a broken shard off the mirror, the man

made a cut above each eye and, allowed the blood to trickle down and, over

his eye in a crimson tear. He put his fingers in the blood and drew curved

lines from the corner of his mouth, creating a mocking smile.

He looked into the mirror again, his transformation complete. His face was

now the theatrical mask of irony. The irony that a man, that was killed

both emotionally and physically, had returned. To kill those that killed

him and his family.

To exact revenge for his....shattered life.
