Sub-Reality Cafe: Aahg! Too Many Of Each Character! by Ben Church b_church@yahoo.com It was couples night at the Sub-Reality Cafe. The manager, knowing trouble was on the horizon had called the bouncer inside, mainstream characters were allowed in tonight anyway. Any single characters that came in would likely get depressed and leave on their own. Up on the stage, the X-Tremes were just finishing their set. Hotshot was on lead guitar as usual, and Blink, this Hotshot's girlfriend was in good voice. The band finished to thunderous applause and they left the main room to change. Then Hotshot and Jubilee entered, arm in arm. The Manager sighed. It would start soon. "Drinks all around!" Hotshot cried happily. "Jeez Willie," Chase Matthews said. "What's got you in such a great mood. Last I heard you were drowning your sorrows." Beside him, Shea O'Reilly nodded in agreement. "It's very simple my human friend." Hotshot grinned. "Ladies and Gentlemen and others, I am back!" The many couples in the room stopped and stared. "Officially?" "That's right, not a prequal, not a dream or a flashback, or an Elseworlds, I am back!" Hotshot was soon surrounded by well wishers. And a good thing too because at that moment, in walked Sharp Shot and Jubilee. No sooner had they gotten lost in the crowd, then Tornado and Jubilee entered. The Manager could only assume that in the confusion, the couples got separated. He/She couldn't think of any other way to account for what happened next. "Jubilee? What are you doing with Will?" Aaron's voice was heard from the crowd. "What? Who are you?" "Will?" "Aren't you dead?" "Hey get your hands off my boyfriend!" "What do you think you're doing with my girlfriend?" "YOUR boyfriend? Will's MY boyfriend!" "Who the heck do you think you are?" No one was quite sure who had thrown the first punch, but the next thing they knew, Jubilee, Hotshot, Blink, Hotshot, Tornado, Jubilee, Sharp Shot and Jubilee were all immersed in the most confusing bar fight anybody'd ever seen. The manager shook his/her head and gestured helplessly to the bouncer. Sighing, the bouncer (who tonight conveniently had many arms) snatched up the combatants and sorted them out. "All right, now listen up." the bouncer said. "Who here is Sharp Shot's girlfriend?" One Jubilee raised her hand. "Fine." he/she placed the couple on one side of the room. "Now who's Tornado's girlfriend?" The couples were soon separated and once their mistake was realized, suitably embarrassed. "Now you folks enjoy yourselves, but try to stay away from each other. We don't want this confusion happening again." "Well," the manager thought. "Never a dull moment around here." The End! Credit where Credit is due: The Sub-Reality Cafe was created by Kielle. Everyone say thank you. "THANK YOU KIELLE!" The Manager and bouncer don't really belong to anybody. Hotshot belongs to me. He and Jubilee are a couple in most of my stories. Except the ones with Tornado, that's where the Blink connection is. The X-Tremes are mine. Shea and Chase belong to Perri Smith. Tornado belongs to Aaron Thall. Tornado and Jubilee have pretty much always been a couple. Sharp Shot belongs to Sharp Shot (duh). He and Jubilee have also always been a couple I believe. Blink and Jubilee belong to Marvel Comics.
