Peleus:
Warrior of the Bravery of the Crystal Towers
Peleus does not fear Death--some say this is because of his two great pains, the pain in his head and the pain in his heart.
It is said that the pain in his head was caused by a battle with a great demon. The details are unknown, but it was after this battle that he began wearing a patch over his right eye. Some believe this is because he lost his eye; others say the eye gives him painful visions when he sees through it. Peleus will not speak of it, but he does call the demon "Pain."
The pain in his heart is less mystical, but equally mysterious. Some say it is the pain of unrequited love for one who left him for another. Others say it is for a love who was lost in a great tragedy, and Peleus failed to save her. Still others say it is from a secret love he has never revealed, perhaps a love for another of the Towers. In this, alone, his bravery may have failed him.
Peleus has two main weapons: one is the Mace of Nor, named after the warrior who wielded it until his death in the Battle of the River Djinn. He uses this most often against barbarians and wild animals.
His primary weapon, though, is the sword whose name translates as "Bravery of Death." Said to have been forged by Vulcan himself, some say it makes Peleus invincible but only when two conditions are met: first, that he is actively defending the Towers; and second, that he does not feel fear. When not directly defending the Towers, he is no more invincible than anyone else.
However, if he ever feels fear while wielding it, whether in defense of the Towers or not, the sword will not parry blows, and leave him dangerously vulnerable to attack.
In addition to being a great warrior, he is highly chivalrous and courteous, and writes poetry. He is very polite but somewhat reclusive. When seen, it is often at a distance as he patrols the grounds on his black stallion Cartielos.
Surprisingly, Peleus has a subtle sense of humour, and those who do not know him well may not realize when he speaks in jest. He is also a lover of animals and children, and is often seen carrying a child on his shoulders, or grooming his horse, or hunting with his dogs. Animals and children seem to like him. Some even claim he can speak with animals, but this is probably merely a rumour.
