The story starts at Dept. PSI where WildCORE is
assembled and watching as Backlash and Zealot
hold a training session of sorts. All looks well till
the fight gets a little dirty with Zealot finally
taking the last straw as Backlash comments on her age.
Ferrian tells the other members to stay seated as he
wants to stop the fight which has obviously gone
out of hand. He is stopped by Giovanni who
has a
alternate way to stop the fight. Meanwhile Marc and
Zealot are still slugging it out when a D'rahn
suddenly explodes from the ground, it is obviously
a mere robot but Giovanni appears and reminds
them that their petty fights are irrelevant and
that the D'rahn were the reason they are at PSI.
After that Marc takes a shower and when he comes out,
he meets with Amanda who is about to leave with Vigor
and Styrian to go after one of the Kherubim from
the list on the Nautilus. After telling her that he would
be leaving for England with Brawl after Ferrian and
Zealot return after meeting Majestic he says goodbye etc.etc.
Meanwhile at the Blackfoot Ranch, Oregon, Guy Blackfoot
is looking through his mothers belongings. Alea comes
into the barn to remind him that he has a deadline to meet
before she notices what he was doing and she asks him to
confide in her.
He tells her that when he was young his mother
would tell him his own personal bedtime story which
she claimed was an old family folk tale. One of fallen
angels fighting a never-ending battle to save the earth
from demons that possess the soul. The angels made an
alliance with the inhabitants of our sister planet to aid
them in their battle, but soon after the angles feared
their new allies and turned on them. While he tells
her this he flips through a book with illustrations of
the Kherubim, D'rahn and the Daemonites depicting
the battles and the imprisonment of the D'rahn.
He then says that before his mother died she told him
that the stories were true, Alea asked whether or
not he believed this. But before he can answer, the horses
outside start to whinny in fright. When Alea and Guy
run out the horses are already slaughtered. In the
background we see, Pildra and some Daemonites on the
barn roof, looking out at Guy and Alea.
The scene then changes to where Ferrian and Zealot are
in route to Majestic. On the way Ferrian ask
Zealot whether her behavior towards Backlash has anything
to do with the fact that Backlash's father was the only
person she ever modelled herself after. She feigns
ignorance and says that she hasn't the slightest idea what
he was talking about. Ferrian goes on to say that deep
down inside she knows that there's no real pride in
being a Kheran noble and that she should respect Marc
if not for his position as leader but for his
lineage. If it were'nt for Backlash's father she would
not be here today. Before Zealot can answer Jules gives them
the all clear to land. Ferrian suggest that she answer Jules
as they needed to land soon. Zealot then gives Jules an
affirmative and says Jerk under her breathe, meaning
Ferrian I suppose.
On the ground Zealot introduces Ferrian to Jules but
they had already met before when Emp was recruiting
Ferrian for WildC.A.T.s. Zealot then asks Jules why
Majestic had not been answering their calls. Jules
doen't know but states that it was very unlike him.
They then go meet Majestic and Zealot asks for his assistance.
Majestic merely answers that it was time to confront them
and he also asks Ferrian to relax as the ill feelings that
he had harboured against him had long since disolved. As he
changes into his uniform he comments that the D'rahn must be
destroyed and he feared that even he might not be enough
to stop them.
Now we go back to Alea and Guy who had just been attacked
by Daemonites, as he kicks one away he asks Alea to get inside.
A few moments later he follows suit.
Pildra then breaks down the doors much annoyed by the
obvious incapable Daemonites then orders them to search
for the two of them. Awhile later they bring out Alea who is
obviously frightened. Up in the rafters Guy activates his
animatronic monster as a distraction then demands that
they let her go. At this point the WildCORE team consisting
of Taboo, Vigor and Styrian have just arrived and land
their ship.
Pildra suddenly stabs Alea, enlightening her. While
trying to stop this Guy is inadvertedly killed by the
Daemonite which had been behind him all this time.
Then there is a red blast of energy and WildCORE has arrived!
Taboo points out that Pildra is outnumbered, and outgunned
and
offers a surrender instead, at which Pildra orders her
Daemonites to attck them instead. In a short time the
Daemonites and Pildra are overcome but before they can
apprehend anyone Haroth comes along bringing orders
from Typhon for Pildra to retreat. He then teleports them
away.
Despite this, they obviously failed as the Kheran they
came to save was already lying dead in Alea's arms.
Alea by the way has deep-red skin courtesy of
the enlightenment.
End. Fini.
My Comments/Notes: Woohoo! I loved Issue #3! This was the issue that totally bowled me over and made me a WildCORE fan! The art was stunning the story was terrific and I loved the scence between Backlash and Zealot! It will be interesting to see what comes out of Alea's enlightenment, what powers will she possess? And why in the world is her skin red of all colors??
