Who is CancerMan? What are his ties to Agent Mulder, and the project that Mulder's father was so deeply involved in? Nobody may ever actually know who the mysterious smoker of Morley's really is. He seems to have some sort of tie to Special Agent Mulder, as he was friendly with Mulder's family. However, this connection could be strengthened only because of Mulder's importance to "the equation" of the grand project. Or is there a deeper connection? Maybe Season 5 will give us a little more to go on, or at least the movie! The men he works for write the future.
