All about me.

Hi, I'm Andrew. Well, that was easy, wasn't it?

Oh, so you want the gory details. Well, my name is Andrew Lawston. My middle name is Kenneth, but don't tell anyone. I study French in Birmingham, although at present I'm doing a year in a French university as part of the Erasmus exchange program. I'm hoping to change the photo soon, as it's nothing like my normal scruffy self.

When not being educated, I live in the New Forest in Hampshire, which is a really nice place to visit. My hobbies are reading, writing, acting and films. I've had moderate success with my acting: I was nominated for a regional award at the amateur dramatics level, and I have performed in a couple of semi-professional productions around Birmingham. It's something I'd like to do more, but rarely have time.

As for my writing, you can find plenty of examples on these very pages. As a piece of holiday homework, I was also once required to write a piece entitled, 'Hampshire, My Home' for entry in a county-wide competition. I was somewhat surprised when my extremely sarcastic article about the death of William Rufus actually won a prize (4th, I seem to recall).

My favourite film is hard to decide. Either Excalibur, Grosse Pointe Blank, The Truman Show, La Cité Des Enfants Perdus or Brazil. On the second rung are El Mariachi and Desperado (still can't work out which I prefer), Léon, Blade Runner (although I prefer the book), Life of Brian, LA Confidential, Matrix and Edward Scissorhands. I also like Face/Off, but I advise you never to think too seriously about some of the implications of the ending, because it's actually quite unpleasant.

Just to play the controversy card, I honestly believe that Batman Returns was the best of the whole franchise.

Back to the villa!
