Egyptian Hieroglyphs

Along the blue waters

Of the Nile,

A thousand priests

Once lived.

At different points

At different times,

The Gods once mingled there.

Isis prowled

Among the reeds,

Akin the maids

Washing linens.

Osiris leapt

Among the stars,

With the dead Pharaohs,

Who dwelt there.

The pyramids

Rise above the sand.

The Sphinx

Protects what’s hidden.

Though industry

Creeps in,

The magic,

Is still there
