.:Ramses:.. 12.28.02 The time has come to close up the year 2002, and I can't think of a better way for it to end than to be playing a show as the hours count down to the New Year. It's been a really good year for the band, we managed to get alot more organized and build a small name for ourselves in Houston, thanks to a few good shows we landed. This is all just the beginning. I have alot of faith in the music that we're writing, and I think our determination will show through when you all finally get to hear these new songs. Also, I've got a wireless rig now, too... should be fun at shows. That's about all I've got to report for now... thanks again to everyone that made it to a show this year. Be responsible when you drink. .:Omar:.. 12.22.02 Hey guys, I haven't posted on the open book till this very moment, for this OUTRAGE I apologize....just been trying to keep busy with writing, recording, rehearsals and occasionally a good game of Dead to right's. This month is a busy month for the band. We have alot of big shows coming up and a new cd to release! Im really excited about the new material we've been producing....its got all of the same ol Overshot hooks you know, but is definetely different than anything you've ever heard from us. All of us in the band have come together for this cd, adding a wide variety of styles to the music. We view it as a piece of art, a canvas in which we all paint our corner of the picture. So far its been a real leap from previous recordings. We've been straying away from the usual "alternative rock" bullshit you hear on the radio....Creating something I think fans will really get into. Of course "alernative rock" is where our roots stem from so we havent abandoned it all together. But I dont know about you guys but im tired of listening to the same songs on the radio that all sound like they came from the same producer/studio/songwriter. This is the 21st century and its time to rake in the new millenium and abandon the dying scene. I could go on and on and maybe i will in future postings. But for now i'll leave you with this: Overshot is about being real. When we are out on the stage we aren't trying to sell ourselves to the audience. The audience in the end decides what they like and what they want to hear. We are 4 musicians who love making music and only wish for the music to span out to audiences around the world. I personally don't care if we get a hit on the radio....what matters is that people get to hear the tunes, and if it leaves an impression good/bad. At least they've heard our voice in the world. Overshot is not about big hair, or tattooes, or looking bad ass on stage. Overshot is about the art of music itself. Let it be known! See you guys at the concert! .:Ramses:.. 10.29.02 Well, the recording has been coming along alot faster than we expected it to, which is a good thing, but it's still not fast enough. We're sort of having to work alot harder to get it done by a certain deadline, but that doesn't mean that we're rushing anything. Just working harder. I can't really say much this early, but if everything works out alright, good things will be happening soon. So we're pretty focused right now. We like the honest feedback about "Haunt", whether it be good or bad, it was/is very much appreciated. Yesterday we went back and tried to record a solo part in it, but after a few hours we kinda decided that the song was better off the way it is. I think I might still do the solo live, however, depending on the mood. The other songs are also coming along great, on the music and production level. I wish I could explain how anxious I am to play these new songs, we're really spending alot of time into making every single one of them something that everyone will like. "Bitter" is probably going to be the next mp3 we put up.. and yes, we do plan on putting most of the songs from the upcoming album on the website. Well, at least half of them, anyway. I really can't wait to play again. 16 days and counting.... .:Dave:.. 9.15.02 Alright Folks.... This is going to be a busy weekend for us, We hope everyone has made plans to see us at least 1 time this next week...Make sure you get the show times and arrive on time... A lot of "interesting" stuff is going to be happening right before we start to play and you might want to see what I have up my sleeve...Alright everyone drive safe, and we will see you very soon... .:Ramses:.. 9.18.02 Hello everyone, we finally got this section of the site up and running, hopefully we'll put in things that are worth reading every now and then. If at times it seems as though we are writing incoherently or sloppily, it's probably because of all these late night recording sessions that are driving us crazy, and depriving us of sleep. For example, i'm not even sure if "sloppily" is a word. Anyway, I still haven't really recorded anything yet. Mainly it's just Omar spending hour after hour tinkering with the EQ and setting levels, mixing down one song at a time. I won't lay any guitar parts onto tape until later, right before we record vocals, which we're doing last. But I'm there, giving input on a few things, suggesting changes, helping with song arrangements. I get easily distracted, though, and lately it's been because of the playstation 2 that we have in the room where the mixing is going on. Silent Hill 2 is a great game, i really think it's affecting the mood of the whole recording process... if you've played the game, you know what I mean. I am a nerd. Oh, and by the way, I'm starting to look at getting myself a half stack, since the marshall amp (picture to the right) I have isn't cutting it anymore. It just doesnt have enough power. So I'm shopping around for something, and hopefully I'll find something I like in time to record the album with it. Any suggestions? Well, time to get back to the game in progess. And also practice for Fitz and Fuel this weekend... full load. See ya! .:Dave:.. 9.15.02 Alright everyone, Dave here... I hope this journal will keep most of you up to date on what Overshot will be up to in the next few months.....Hopefully a new Cd release will be in Early 2003. Let me tell you, The few lucky people who have heard the "clips" have all said the same things... "Wow" Not only is this album going to be including new songs, that still have to be written...but the top 3-4 songs off "The Dream" will be re-recorded and added to hopefully be the next Full Length CD for 2003. For all the people who really want to know, Overshot has invested in its new Studio yet again.... Including the new 2002 versions of Pro Tools allowing 128 digital tracks... Also the most recent addition to the bands studio is a 32 channel 4 Bus Mixing Counsole... So with these 2 great peices of equipment the Sound Quality of the new CD will be a tremendous jump from the Ole 16 track Roland 1880.. Used in Previous Cds.... Be warned... as soon as we get some new Clips for the Web we will.... and you will @#%$ a brick! At this time I have just completed about half of the Drum Takes for this new album.....Its a long process that has to be perfect.... but so far has been moving a long very easily....(Hence upgrade in Eqp speeds up things) However we wanted the new cd to sound different than the last.. So we Upgraded my Snare Drum To a New DW to get rid of the Pearl Picalo snare.. that has been annoying us all for a while.... New Microphones have been used to get the best sound possible too.... All in all ... Its sounding Great.... and I couldnt be more happier with it... Ive been to studios that charge an arm and a leg... and Still havent put out sounds that we have been getting.... Anyways.. I hope this has been just as exciting for you as it has been for me... I hope you come check out the last 3 shows for the year... We will be seeing everyone very soon, and hopefully Overshot's first National Tour will Commence in 2003.... and we might be hitting those cities for all the "Out of Town" Fans... "Mysterious thoughts leave Mysterious ways" ~Dave .:Ramses:.. 9.15.02 hey everyone, we've written about four new songs so far, and recorded one of them, a kind of calm moving song (so far i think we're calling it "haunt"... we keep using both)... we're hoping to play that one this friday and saturday at Fitz and Fuel, as long as the Prince can learn it over the 'net. Haha, the wonders of technology. Anyway, that's about all I know right now.. I havent even laid down my guitar part on anything. But I've got a couple of tricks up my sleeve that i'm borrowing from the old Journey and Judas Priest bag. Those guys are my heroes. Haha... i say all this as if I were any good. But i'm still learning, i have some pretty good teachers. All right, I'm out. I'm gonna try to get Dave to post something right now. -ramses |
