QUEENMAKER
The Adversaries
This section details the adversaries of the Queen and the Heroes of Wendar in their quest to reunite the Kingdom of Wendar.
King Peligraine of Peligrainia
(DECEASED)
One of
Genivive's cousins who took control of Wendar after King Gylharen's
death. A fiecely pro-Human racist, Peligraine amassed the
armies of Wendar, of which he had control, and marched on the Elves in a
campaign of genocide, mistakenly blaming them for the Queen's death.
Upon the Queen's return, Peligraine refused to acknowledge her
leadership and was eventually slain by the Queen in a duel on the
battlefields outside Gellanor. His provinces are now largely
uncontrolled...
King Lamnun of the Kingdom of
Lamnun
Genivive's
other cousin, Lamnun's political power is as strong as Peligraine's
military might. Lamnun backstabbed his brother when Peligraine
took the armies to attack the Elves of western Wendar and wrested
political and commercial control of Wendar's eastern territories.
Lamnun's strength seemed unbeatable, however he has recently suffered a
major blow when it was discovered that he has been supplying the forces
of Denagoth to the north, the age-old enemy of Wendar.
King Gevren of
Denagoth
The former General of the
Shadowlord's armies, Gevren rose to power after the death of
Landryn Teriak, the Shadowlord, at the hands of the party. Gevren
rebuilt his power around the temple city of Gereth Idris, but suffered
another setback when the party attacked that stronghold and eliminated
two of his strongest allies, the Priest Kurda, and the wizard Camla.
Breaking away from the religious fervor which had drawn the army to him
in the first place, Gevren has poised his armies to strike at the
weakened Wendar to reclaim the glory of Denagoth.
Warlord
Neptumi
The enigmatic Warlord Neptumi has
emerged suddenly from the deserts to the northwest. So far his
interaction in the Wendarian affair has been limited to some diplomacy
with Baron Donovan and a recent excursion to steal away a province or
two from Peligraine's former lands.
Prince Jaggar von Drachenfels of
Glantri
Prince
Jaggar is one of the seven ruling princes of the magocracy of Glantri,
and is commander-in-chief of their armies. An immensely powerful
wizard, Jaggar manipulated the party in an effort to locate the body of
the great red dragon Luminac in southern Wendar. He had hoped to
resurrect the dragon as a lich (dracoliches are unknown in this world to
this point) under his control. However, he was unknowingly being
manipulated in turn by the dragon's spirit, which had been freed
from its prison by the party long before. In the fallout of the
Luminac affair, Prince Jaggar was forced to flee after facing the
combined might of the dracolich and the party. His forces still
hold the two southern provinces of Talonbluff and Tyvlevosk along the
Glantrian border.
Luminac
(DECEASED)
The puppetmaster behind most of
the players' careers, it is Luminac's influence which can be traced as
the cause of nearly every aspect of the current situation in Wendar.
Luminac was an ancient red dragon who sought immortality. When he
was denied this privelege by the Gods of Chaos, he sought alternate
means, namely though lichdom. Enlisting the aid of Kavorquian, a
promising student from the School of Magic in nearby Glantri, Luminac
nearly achieved his goal. However, his ruse was found out at the
last moment, and Kavorquian trapped the dragon's soul in a ring.
By means of his great power, Luminac was still able to exert some
influence on the outside world. For years he painstakingly
manipulated others into attempting to retrieve his soul and complete the
ceremony, but Kavorquian stopped him at every turn. Upon
Kavorquian's death, however, Luminac received his chance. He
carefully manipulated the players, Prince Jaggar of Glantri, and many
others into gathering the components needed to complete the process and
revive him to full draco-lichdom. Fast action on the part of the
party prevented the dracolich from unleashing his terror onto the world,
however, and Luminac was slain forever... or so it seems...
The
Shadowelves
The unseen Elves of the caverns
beneath Mystara's surface. The deeply religious Shadowelves were
duped by Luminac, posing as their god, Rafael, to congregate under the
surface of Wendar. With Luminac's death, the Shadowelves are left
seeking direction, and the consequences of having their presence in
Wendar is as yet unknown...
The Noeyaz ("Man Piercers"), a Human-hating Elven sect, the Orcs of the Mengul mountains, and Brulefer, an ambitious Blue dragon are among the many other adversaries in the campaign.
