This section of the site is dedicated to our ongoing D&D/AD&D campaigns. The campaign is currently on hiatus while our gaming group puzzles its way through some other adventures, but the third phase of the campaign is being quietly readied... and it should be a good one. ;)
While the campaign initially began in 2000 as a basic D&D campaign (we wanted to get back to basics), it eventually evolved into an AD&D 2nd Ed. game, migrated to an on-line/off-line Birthright campaign, and is getting ready to transition to D&D 3.5. Talk about resilient!
April 24, 2006 update...
The initial online Birthright game became too burdened down by number crunching. Between harassing people for their turns, attempting to plot the moves of numerous NPCs, managing the resources of some 20 PCs and NPCs, resolving a half-dozen large-scale conflicts per-turn, each turn was taking me days to resolve. While everyone enjoyed the political role-playing, the paperwork simply became too much for me and the online game died a slow and lingering death.
But rising from the ashes...
With the help of one of my players I am currently developing Reign of Power, an online game inspired by the Birthright system, which I hope will allow us to continue the online game shortly. While under development, there is currently an active message forum for the game. Once complete the game will initially be used exclusively for my campaign. Stage two may be to open it to additional players. One day I hope that it may be possible to allow other DMs to run their own games of rulership and political intrigue using the RoP engine!
June 17, 2006 update...
We've started a wiki over at the RoP site to track the details of our campaign and serve as a background reference for RoP players... especially considering it's been about 5 years since we last played with these characters!
Files in this section are both for the interest (hopefully) of other DMs and as a resource to my players.
If you read this and you like what you read: cool. Borrow it, use it, enjoy it, but please don't steal it. Everything contained within this site is copyright © 2000-2005 by Winterfrost (that's me). If you plan on printing or publishing anything contained herein in any medium, please get my permission first.
The campaign has had a few different titles in its history, but there have really been two separate story arcs so far, so I will break them down into two distinct (but overlapping) sections:
A Dragon's Wish
Being the story of the spirit of an evil dragon and its quest to gain immortality with the assistance of a group of unwitting adventurers...
This story arc is currently complete.Queenmaker
Being the continuing story of the civil war which ripped apart the Kingdom of Wendar and the various parties vying with the rightful Queen for control of the once-utopian country...
This story arc was last running through an online campaign based on the Birthright system, but is currently inactive.Twist of Fates
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
- George Santayana
Where our Heroes are forced to put aside their conflict, those of state and personality alike, to stop reality itself from plunging into oblivion...
The Story - This section details the story of the Queenmaker campaign so far.
The Players - This section details the characters involved in the battle for Wendar, primarily Queen Genivive and her allies, the Heroes of Wendar.
The Adversaries - This section details the forces arrayed against the Queen in her attempt to reclaim her throne.
Resources - In this section, you will find various resources, including maps of the war-torn Kingdom of Wendar, custom magic items, weapons, armor, monsters, etc.
Game Mechanics - The details on how the online campaign ran during its relatively brief life! If only I had more time...
Reign of Power Website - The (hopefully) new home of the online campaign. Currently under development.
