Career plans: To eventually earn a PhD in ecological/environmental science and work for a consulting firm or US Government, perhaps starting my own company eventually.

INTERESTS: Biology, philosophy , music of all forms, particularly country and classical, playing violin (15 years and counting), travel, good books, mountains, lakes, good, unpretentious poetry, computers, left-handedness, academic competition, role-playing games, postcards, coins and currency (I once bought a million dollar (well, pre-WWI German Mark) bill for $5...I thought it was a good deal), the space program, history, geysers, canyons, Denny's runs at 2.00 AM, good friends, good fellowship, time travel and other aspects of physics that no one understands (the stuff where you don't necessarily have to know what you're talking about), bad chess, really bad basketball, making people think I can play the piano, Star Wars (the movies, not the defensive system), literacy tutoring, hearts, spades, poker, mao , cribbage, the ocean, whales, great sunsets, thunderstorms with lots of lightning (best fireworks show around), volleyball, French stuff, Celtic stuff, general weirdness, lively discussion, good iced tea (don't order iced tea in the northeast, they haven't mastered the concept of "brewing" yet), good, unpretentious visual art (sculpture, paintings, etc), other things that aren't coming to mind right now, but probably will...

DISLIKES: -isms, stinging insects, drugs (slowly poisoning oneself....wow, isn't that cool), sweet potatoes, intolerance, narrow-mindedness, Newt Gingrich, Jesse Helms, stupidity, bureaucracy, hypocrisy, censorship, people who can't admit they're wrong, senseless violence (hence my dislike of the Republican pary) televised golf, canned tea.

Favorite Sports Teams/Figures: the Dallas Cowboys, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chicago White Sox, the St. Louis Cardinals, whoever plays the 49ers or Redskins that week, Dale Earnhardt (Go #3!)

Favorite Books: Anything by Agatha Christie, Tom Clancy, or Timothy Zahn, Dear Mr. Henshaw, by Beverly Cleary, The Spiral Dance, by Starhawk, Survival At Auschwitz, by Primo Levi, Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, Tom Landry: An Autobiography, Yeager, by Chuck Yeager, Le Petit Prince, by Antoine de St. Exupery (even though the ending is depressing), anything by Dave Sim, City of Truth, by James Morrow.

I took her advice and haven't looked back), Mr. Jack Swann and Ms. Lois Allen (two HS teachers that got me interested enough in science to make it a career)
