I'm putting together a book of shadows of sorts for my nieces. Some
day some of this stuff might make sense to them.
So I'm doing laws. I have "as above, so below," "as within, so
without," "energy flows where attention goes," the three fold law,
and one that totally escapes my memory at the moment.
Any others you feel should be included?

Ok, lets say you ask for a million dollars. Would you expect to have a
chest of gold appear out of thin air, or would you expect to find a
winning lottery ticket?
Basically, magic tends to work along the lines of all other laws of the
universe, rather than breaking those laws. That includes laws of belief
and credulity. That's why a lot of people will say that "it wasn't
magic, just a coincidence." It WAS magic, but it manifested along
natural lines.

Gotcha.
Hence the reason I am very careful what I ask for.

MMA -
I'm going to archive these (and hopefully more) laws on my
page (only the laws themselves, bantering removed for clarity)
unless anybody has problems with that.
If you don't want the Law you write about to be 'published'
there, just let me know when you write it, and I'll leave it
and any pointed references to it out of the archive...
I'm going to stick the ones from my online BOS (no, it's
not any further along than the last time you checked, I've
been LAZY) ;-) in there too.
You might remember them from a while back, beware, some of them show
my attempts at prose...

Laws of Morality -
Thou hast been given Powers by the Gods to Shape and Change the
worlds in which we live, and these powers wax strongly as wisdom
increases. Exercise discretion in their use and use them not with
malicious nor evil intent.
The responsibilities of thy actions, be they conscious or otherwise,
are thine own. Therefore let the awareness of Karma guide thy actions,
being always mindful that whatsoever ye sow, ye shall surely reap.
And as ye harm none, do as ye will: teach one another; help one
another; love one another - for the law is love.
Be it known that the Gods will not help man without the help of man.
It is neither meet nor right that a man sit idly by and expect the
Lord and Lady to see to his affairs; for he must labor on his own
behalf to be worthy of divine aid.
Honor the Gods, for without them naught would exist, and do thou also
observe their Holy Festivals as done of Old, for without tradition,
how are we to know ourselves?
Have pride in thyself and seek perfection in body, mind and spirit,
for as it is said, "How canst thou Honor anything without first giving
Honor to thyself?"
Thou canst give nothing to the gods which came not from them, save
this, thy free support and love. Therefore offer not any living thing
for Sacrifice, those lives are not thine to give.
The teachings and actions of those who follow the Old Ways are not
understood by all; therefore those with knowledge of persons, actions,
and teachings of a Circle are bound by an oath of secrecy. He who
breaks this oath is answerable to those who have been betrayed.

And the Laws of Magic -
Magic is the craft of the Magi, sometimes the spelling, "Magick", is
used to differentiate between prestidigitation and the use of "the
paranormal." Since I feel that distinction to be arbitrary, in this
writing the term Magic refers to those ways in which desired effects
can be caused and distant situations perceived which do not comply
with what is "normally" considered possible. No confusion should arise
however, since this work does not deal with the ancient secrets and
mysteries of human thought and perception which are the basis of the
modern stage magician's branch of the craft of the Magi.
There are three metaphysical laws which govern magic. The "Basic Law",
"Contagion", and "Sympathy". The explainations of which follow...
The Basic Law is that all things are possible and interrelated,
causing the squared infinity of realities to be in a constant state of
change do to interreaction. These realities are in various states of
harmony, ranging from those which can peacefully coexist to those
which are mutually exclusive.
The way in which order is supported throughout existence is by way of
the time-space continuim. This means that each location in space at
each instant of time contains a reality which is related to other
times and locations in varying amounts of probability.
Each Being's actions at each time and location strengthens certain of
these probablilities, and guides cumulative existence along the
continuim to another reality.
The connections between these time-spaces can be shown as a fluid
lattice, actions and preceptions as lines that connect points which
are the moments which result from those actions. Closer examination of
this model show that both the 'past' and the 'future' are constantly
changing, and the only immutable time is now.
The two other laws which permeate all known magical systems are
Contagion and Sympathy. Although concentrating on either principle
singly will cause change, the best results are achieved when effort is
put forth to use them both.
The Law of Contagion is that once an object has been in contact with
something else, it maintains a contact with that other object which
can be used to communicate the will of the Magician. The strength of
this link is based on proximity in space, energy, and time, so that
the closer the objects were, the amount of energy between them while
together, the longer they were together, the more recently they were
separated, the stronger the link between them will be.
The Law of Sympathy is that all similar objects are in communication
with each other, the strength of the link is directly proportional to
the amount of similarity between them whether obvious or subtle. This
sympathetic link can be used by the Magician similarly to the
contagious link to bring his will to bear on the distant object.
The section of this Grimoire which deals with symbolic correspondences
is geared toward the development of sympathetic links. Be aware that
linking is a two-way street, do not link up with something which may
have more willpower than yourself without first VERY carefully
examining the possible consequences!

No, I haven't gotten to the section on symbolic correspondences yet.
Hopefully I'll get back to working on that project sometime this year.
If I don't, keep nagging, it's the only thing that seems to work on
keeping me moving ;->
If you've made it this far, congratulations!!!
The short form of all those laws would be something like ;
--Morality--
1) "Let's be careful out there."
2) Keep karma in mind, it's as inevitable spiritually as inertia is in
the physical world (has lots of similarities to inertia, actually)
3) Play nice, dammit!
4) "Trust in allah, but tie up your camel."
5) Remember... At the very least, it's important to keeping yourself
together.
6) Be good to yourself too.
7) A Witches' word is her/his bond.
--Magic--
1) "It's all connected."
2) "As Above, So Below." (I know you had that, but this kind of
includes sideways and concentric too...)
3) A portion of a thing always remembers its connection with that thing.
Ok, think that's it for the moment, (don't you just hate these guys
that can't seem to shut up?) got to get going, see you all later.

Interesting, Myrdrake. What I call the law of resonnance, you call the law of sympathy. Makes sense. The other thing that's really interesting is that sympathy, etc. can all easily be represented by the spider web.
Wonder what a spider web looks like 3D?
