The Babylon Project Zone:

Poll

A SFRPG Zone Site

From 3-25-97 to 3-28-97 I conducted a poll on Chameleon Eclectic's Babylon Project mailing list. I asked the members of the list to pick which supplements/sourcebooks for The Babylon Project they would most like to see. I have posted the results (and my opinions of them) here for your edification.

I received 33 valid responses. I asked for three votes per
person. If you voted for more than three supplements I
tallied the first three. If you voted for less than three I
tallied however many you sent in.

Here are the results, listed from most popular to least
popular (in case of ties entries from the original list are
listed first in order, followed by write ins in the order
which I received them).

Since I went to all the trouble to conduct this poll and
tally the data. I get to be the first to give you my opinions
on the results.

The Babylon Project attempts, in various ways, to encourage
players and GMs to: play primarily human characters, play
only in the 2250-2258 setting and play non-telepathic
characters. The top vote getting categories in this poll are
(in order) Sourcebooks on Alien Races, Sourcebooks on
settings other than 2250-2258 and a Psi-Corps/Telepath
Sourcebook. I don’t know how much of this is what people
would have wanted anyway and how much is the "I want it
because they don’t want to give it to me" factor.

The overwhelming emphasis in the voting is Alien
Sourcebooks of various types, with emphasis on the League.
The Minbari, the Centauri and a combined Minbari, Centauri,
Narn Sourcebook are the runner ups.

Setting oriented sourcebooks are the next highest group.
The top vote getter is a Rim/Explorer Sourcebook with the
Shadow War close behind.

In the Orginizations/Groups category the runaway favorite
is the PsiCorps/Telepath Sourcebook. None of the other
contenders are even close.

The Technical Sourcebook champion is a Starships
Sourcebook, though the need for this may decline depending
on how much starship data there is in the EarthForce
Sourcebook.

The winner in the catch all miscellaneous sourcebook
is the Poster Size Known Space Star/Jumpgate Routes Map
which could be eaisly included in another product (the GM
Resource kit, Earth Colonies Sourcebook, and League of
Non-Aligned Worlds Sourcebook are all good candidates).

To sum it all up, if the members of this list got to choose
the next three sourcebooks they would probably be:

League of Non-Aligned Worlds Sourcebook
Psi-Corps/Telepath Sourcebook
Major Races Sourcebook (Minbari, Centauri, Narn)
