The Q are an extremely powerful race with virtually limitless power and abilities. One member of the Continuum delighted in harassing the crew of USS Enterprise-D. Members of the Q can assume any shape that they desire, their natural state being unknown. The Q usually assume whatever form is most suitable for the task they are performing. Suicide is considered an absolutely unacceptable fate for a Q, even though the continuum has executed a small number of Q.
