In response to an alien distress signal, Commander Chakotay lands his shuttlecraft on a planet's surface but is immediately attacked. He is swiftly rescued by a group of people which he soon discovers are formerly assimilated Borg. They are survivors of a Borg cube that encountered an ion storm which disabled the ships power generators, effectively severing the subspace link to all of the Borg drones. Some of the drones were able to transport down to the planet before the generators had shutdown. Upon losing the link with the Collective, the drones on the surface began to revert to their original species. Small groups formed, and most became violent towards one another. The group that rescued Commander Chakotay following his attack had formed a co-operative. They chose to live and work together. They were able to build a small transmitter that allowed them to establish a short range collective network. They used this in conjuction with a neural transciever to repair the neural damage Chakotay suffered during the attack. Subsequently the Ex-borg used the neural transmitter following Chakotays departure from the planet. Using their link with Chakotay, they were able to force him to return to the Borg Cube and restore power to one of the Cubes neural network generators. Using the Cube, they were able to re-establish the neural link to all of the Ex-Borgs on the planet, effectively establishing a planet-wide co-operative. The Borg Cube was then destroyed by the Ex-borg, most likely to prevent the Borg Collective from finding the disabled Cube and the planet.
The current status of the Co-opertive is unknown. No further contact with Chakotay or Voyager has been attempted
