William "Curly" Smith is a music industry
veteran, dating back to the early 1970's. He was in a band called
Jo Jo Gunne from 1972 to 1974 (they had a Top-40 hit entitled
"Run Run Run"), and did sessions for Jay Ferguson (1979-80), Danny
Spanos (harmonica, 1980) and Jeff Beck (1985), among others. He was
introduced to Tom Scholz by David Sikes, and Tom
hired him in late 1994 to replace former-drummer Doug Huffman. In addition to
being a great drummer, he is a great singer (which allows BOSTON to perform
rich four-part harmonies in concert!). Curly is now
a full-fledged member of BOSTON.
