Weekly Game Review for the Week of 4-25-99:
Like all good things, others spring up trying to capitalize on the recent "craze" in fashion. The same is with games. Metal Gear Solid was an awesome spy/infiltration simulation. Now, other games are popping up that follow the same principle, such as Syphon Filter. In SF, you play as Gabe Logan, the best agent of your spy organization, trying to destroy a terrorist group who uses deadly virus bombs as their primary means of destruction.
This game is different from MGS enough to be a good game on its own. SF has much more action and puzzle elements than MGS did. These additions to gameplay raise SF above the assumption of it being a simple "Metal Gear Clone."
