The Ventrue:Every jungle has its lion. It is natural and just that we rise to the top in this urban jungle, for we have been ordained to lead. The scepter of leadership is our blood-given, blood-fought right.
Culture. Civilization. Sophistication. The Ventrue are proudly dedicated to the tenets. When the Inquisition blazed across the world and scourged Kindred ancient and young, it was the Ventrue who united the clans into the Camarilla. It is the Ventrue who maintain the traditional structures that allow vampires to ignore the lesser concerns of safety and sustenance. Vampires are thus freed to attend to higher concerns and more sophisticated pursuits. The Ventrue, to their own minds, serve as the pillars of society, through wise leadership and diplomatic politics. They seek to avoid brutish violence, preferring to settle disputes through genteel politics and enlightened debate. It is the clan’s hope that by displaying its unity and strength, its courage and resolution, its foresight and knowledge, all vampires may follow its good example and a true utopia may arise. Ventrue assume great authority and status as a clan. They feel responsible for Kindred society and seek to impose order upon it - their own order. As part of this order, young Ventrue are taught to respect their elders. The childe of the Ventrue is the quintessence of nobility, with eternity as his dynasty.
Disciplines: Dominate, Fortitude, Presence
Clan Advantage: Clan Ventrue has always been intimately associated with wealth and resources. Whether this is the result of their exacting choice in progeny or by virtue of their bloodline is debatable. In either case, each Ventrue receives a free Finance Influence Trait. While this traits can be expended or temporarily neutralized, it can not be destroyed or stripped from them. It cannot be permanently traded away, either.
Clan Disadvantage: The Ventrue maintain that they are an uncommon if not rarefied breed among the Kindred. It is perhaps quite fitting that their taste for vitae is similarly demanding. Upon Embrace, a Ventrue will instinctively become aware that only one type or source of blood will satisfy her hunger, such as "virgins", "children", "blond men" or "peasants".
Organization:Tradition is the greatest king. Ventrue favor age, experience and generation over youth and ability. They believe that the capable rise to the top as soon as they prove themselves. In all matters, the Ventrue embrace caution and debate all sides of a situation before acting. Of course, some situations require swift action, and such situations are usually recognized. Much of Ventrue legislation and consideration occurs at regular weekly, monthly, and yearly clan meetings. There the clan follows a firm agenda and rationally proposes new itineraries. In emergency situations, the eldest Ventrue of the city calls for an immediate meeting.
Aditional:Elegant, aristocratic and regal, the Ventrue are the lords of the Camarilla. It was Clan Ventrue that provided the cornerstone of the Camarilla, and it is Clan Ventrue that directs and coaxes the Camarilla in its darkest hours. Even in the modern age, the majority of princes descend from Clan Ventrue. The Ventrue would, of course, have things no other way. In the tradition of noblesse oblige, the Ventrue must lead the other clans for their own good.In ancient nights, Ventrue were chosen from nobles, merchant princes or other wielders of power. In modern times the clan recruits from wealthy "old-money" families, ruthless corporate climbers, and politicians. Although Ventrue move in the same social circles as the Toreador, they do not fritter away their existences in frivolity and idle chatter. The Ventrue proudly wear the privileges of leadership, and stoically bear its burdens. Thus has it always been; thus shall it always be.
