One of the original anime fantasy parodies, Slayers is a pretty good fantasy adventure in its own right. Join bandit-hunting sorceress Lina Inverse and her motley crew (idiot savant swordsman Gourry Gabriev, gloomy chimera Zelgadis, naive/insane princess Amelia, etc.) as they quest for fame, fortune, and food...not necessarily in that order. If they happen to save the world a time or two along the way--well, that's fine too.
With three TV seasons, two OVAs, and five movies (not to mention the Japanese novels) for source material, there is a lot for authors to work with.
