One week after the epic battle with Sephiroth, Lucretia passes away. Her untimely death is too much for Vincent’s tortured soul and he slips into a catatonic state, his body slowly degenerating as the Jenova cells in him begin to eat away at his brain.

Willing to do anything to save the life of their good friend, Cloud and Tifa subject themselves to an experimental machine of Red’s that will allow them to enter Vincent’s mind. Once inside, they must brave Vincent’s tortured mind and confront his worst nightmares in an attempt to reach Vincent’s soul and find a way to wake him up from his living nightmare and live to see another day.

But it will not be an easy journey. Vincent’s mind is fraught with warped images and psychological manifestations of his darkest fears. Once inside they are inside his mind, they will have to face everything from Vincent’s warped perceptions of themselves to dark nightmares given breath by his deepest raw emotions, and once they’re inside there are only two ways out… save Vincent’s soul or die trying!

But in the real world, not everything is going all that well either. Red’s machine is still experimental and the slightest mishap could leave Cloud and Tifa’s souls trapped inside Vincent’s head as figments of Vincent’s imagination.

The rest of AVALANCHE, too, finds them busy with a terrorist group who threatens to destroy Corel if a ransom is not paid to them in less than 24 hours.

This could very well be the end of AVALANCHE as we know it. Will they come out on top and survive long enough to meet each other again? Only time and my twisted imagination will tell…
